For climate control (fan, heat, a/c, etc.) I have the dull dials and push buttons, and I want the digital one. Would it be a direct replacement or are there different plugs and equipment?

There is a whole crap load of stuff you need, its not just the control unit.

Exactly, there are sensors, computers, harnesses etc. Do a search on 3si, I think someone is selling conversion kits.

crap...ill look into it, seems like too big of a pain, but maybe the kit makes it easy.

EASY doesnt belong in the name of this conversion. The only thing the kit does is makes sure you have all the stuff necessary. You also have to have electrical sense about you with wiring some of the harnesses and sensors in. Its not a job for a novice.

Well i'm not a novice, i'm good with wiring crap and reading wiring diagrams. Sensors, wiring, and computers aren't what scare me, it's the time and energy involved for such a small upgrade...i think i'm leaning towards just buying a 3S that has it in it already. I plan to buy a VR4 by summer so it should have it in there right?

MOst likely it will but I beleive late model VR4's the digital climate became an option.
