93 jeep cherokee has problem with stalling

I have a '93 jeep cherokee with a 4.0 engine. It will start and idle fine, and then run for about a half hour and then quits running. Sometimes it will start right up and other times it won't start at all for some time. I have replaced the fuel pump, crank sensor, mapps sensor, cam sensor, plugs & wires, coil, computer, auto shut down relay, and fuel pump relay. No codes show when put on a computer. I like the car and would really like to get it fixed. Would appreciate any help.

HI, CHECK THE FUEL PUMP RESISTER ON DRIVERS SIDE FENDER UNDER HOOD. PUT A JUMPER WIRE ON IT. IT'S A WHITE CERAMIC BLOCK WITH 2 WIRES. DALE [email protected]

Tried the jumper wire on the fuel pump resistor, but still stalling. It bucks and jerks at times when traveling, then stalls sometimes at corners. Can feather the gas pedal and keep it running sometimes and sometimes not. Don't know which way to turn now. Help!

My 93 is doing the same thing, I have only replaced the plug wires and coils so far. Have you found the problem since your original post?

I have a 99 Cherokee and am having the same problem. I think it might be a wiring problem as my alarm is also acting up and the passenger side window sometimes will not go down or up.

Does anyone else have any idea what this could be? It seems a lot of Cherokees have this problem.

Hi, check the wiring for your oxygen sensor, at sensor and around manifold and by front drive shaft. could be oxygen sensor wires are shorting out. Could be something with sensor since it starts and run till it reach temperature. Could be tripping autoshut down relay. dale

Not that is the same issue you have, But when one of my jeeps had a stalling prolbem at lower speeds it was the power stearing pump locking up and choking it.

My problem seems to be fixed, I gave up and took it to a shop that specializes in Jeeps. It was getting much worse and was stalling very consistantly at every speed. The mechanic said he found two problems, the first was a faulty Crankshaft Position Sensor, he also found that the Distance (Speed) sensor located on the transfer case was faulty. This sensor sends a signal to the computer that converts the signal to miles per hour for the speedometer. The seal had failed on mine and the sensor was wet from the ATF fluid in the transfer case. The diagnostic and replacement were a little spendy but a lot cheaper than the shotgun method of sensor replacement that I was considering. I drove it about 50 miles this evening and it ran perfectly.

I hope this helps others find their problem.
