my 1990 astro van will start in drive but not in neutral. I had it diagnosed to be the a problem in the steering column. does anyone have any ideas on what to look for and where it might be. the linkage to the transmission is ok.
thanks

It is located right at the bottom of the column on my 93 chev astro, it also controls when the backup light is on - you might want to check to see if this is on in reverse gear or another. It is suppose to tell the ignition when the gear shift is in neutral or park. It is not all that hard to pull out. Mine costs about 10-15, kind of a white plastic looking 1/4 circle.
