Today on my gf car after moving the steering wheel up and down....for a audio install.
*EDIT* Forgot to add it is 88 Oldsmobile Cutlass Ceria
The shifter mechanism isnt aligned correct. The (P R N D 2 1) are off by 1. When I want D its near N and N is near R. There all wrong. And for last few month we had trouble starting it in Park we have to put it in N to start it.
How do I fix this alignment problem?
Please Help!!!

The shifter indicator arrow is most likely connected to the steering column by a piece of elastic string and clip that attaches near where the column goes under the dash board, aligning it is just a matter of moving the clip.
The no start in park condition could be from a faulty or misaligned nuetral safety switch which is located under the dash near the steering column.
