88 Cherokee clutch?

88 4.0, 5 speed, 4 wheel drive.

Suddenly no clutch. No warning. Didn't notice any slipping or shifting problems. Master and slave cylinders recently replaced (prior to my purchasing the jeep). Started it in gear and drove home. Of course can smell the clutch by the time I drove home. Seemed low on fluid but filling made no difference.

Does this sound like slave, master or clutch itself?

Try bleeding the clutch just like brakes. Make sure reservoir is full pump the clutch and hold down and open the bleeder onthe slave cylinder. Try a couple of times. usally a loss of clutch is due to master or slave cylinder fluid loss. If it doesnt help look for a fluid leak.

Is the slave inside the housing on this model?

Bled the system. Seems to have helped. Don't see any leaks. Where could the fluid go that I can't see from under the Jeep?
