1993 C1500 Heater Core Problems

My pickup truck has worked great. I noticed that water is leaking under the passenger side dashboard. I was told it was my Heater Core.
1) Is there any way to stop the leaking by re-routing the hoses or do you have to replace the module?
2) How do you repalce the module? Does it take a long time? How long in general - since I probably will need to get someone to replace it.
I love my truck and need it to work. 215K miles and no major problems.

It may very well be your heater core.you may want to keep an eye on your coolant level if you are still driving the truck.if you are not mechanically inclined then you will have to take it to a service station etc. and have it replaced.I am not sure why you are at first calling it a heater core and later a module???
If you are calling your heater core a module,then to answer your questions......the core will need to be removed by dissasembling your heater from below your dash.It can take some time aprox.5hrs to replace a core.a shop may tell you longer.you may want to clean up the leak on the floor of your truck before to long and try and get your problem fixed before too much more leaks.good luch

And at this time of year, a heater is a good thing!
You could hook your heater hoses together, bypassing the core, but man that means NO heat!!

How and where would I go about connecting the hoses. This vehicle is being used as a secondary vehicle. I can live without the heat for now in Memphis.

The two heater hoses should enter the cab at the passenger side. They are 3/4" hoses if I remember correctly. I didn't notice the year of your truck, but normally one hose exits the rear of the engine and one either connects to the front of the engine or the radiator. If one hose is long enough you can just route it from one point to the other. If not, just get a male to male hose barb from the hardware store and hook them together where they fasten to the firewall.
Of course realize that your defroster will be MUCH less effective. But I have done this short term myself and just put the defroster on high.

My truck is a 1993 Silverado C1500 with 350, 5.7l engine.
