Changing Heater Core

Hi,
I have a 93 Z28 and the heater blows cold. Engine heats up fine and never overheats & Air con works fine, but I can't get any heat from the heater. Occationally it blows slightly warmer than cold, but nothing like it should. From reading other threads, it looks like the heater core may need attention. Just wondering how to get to it to check it and if it needs replacing, how best to do it. Any other advice would be great.
Many thanks in advance
Pete

ive heard the core can get clogged after a long time of use, but yeah thats most likely the problem. i would remove it (look around for some helpful sites, as you might need to know some things i.e. leaking coolant during removal) and just check it out, if there's crap in there then clean it. you say it gets warm now and then, so that would be the first thing i'd do, if that doesn't help you already have it off so then you can replace it.

Thanks,
Where is it located exactly?

.........looks like the heater core may need attention.Just wondering how to get to it to check it..........You can flo test it just like any radiator.Open the lines and connect a water supply to see if it flows..§§§§§§§§§§§§§§§§§§§§§§§§§§§§§§REFUSE . . TO . . LOSE§§§§§§§§§§§§§§§§§§§§§§§§§§§§§§

When a heater core goes it usually leaks and you end up with water/coolant on the passenger floor. If you aren't getting heat from the heater it is probably the heater control valve stuck in the A/C position. The valve is a vacuum operated valve in the engine compartment that makes the coolant bypass the heater core when the A/C is on so the heater core stays cold and isn't working against the A/C.
To find the valve follow the heater hoses from the radiator, it will have 3 or 4 heater hoses (3/4") and a vacuum line hooked to it.

Thanks Morley,
Nothing has leaked, so I'll look for the problem at the valve, as I mentiond before, aircon work just fine, and it sometimes gets a little warmer, so it may be that the core is OK. How hot should air blow, it's about 0 degrees C in England at the moment and the heater dosen't heat the car at all, even with the engine running hot......

Thanks Morley,
How hot should air blow, With the engine at operating temp, heater set to "hot" and the blower on high, it should drive you out of the car with sweat pouring off of you.
When you said the A/C was blowing cold and the heat was not hot, that points to the heater control valve. In the States they cost about $15, I wouldn't even want to guess what they are going to hit you for.
