Ok , To start out we just bought a 98 blazer lt with everything beautifull truckin seemingly exelent condition from a local dealer with 100,000 miles. At first test drive i noticied when i gave it good emout of gass it seemed to loose power at first i thought it was the trans but it wasnt .As we drove it more it got worse loosing power when you try to give it any kind of umph sputter and then misfire. It happens mostly if your going up a steep hill or your stoped and want to turn when you get a break in trafic and it seems to totally die you actually have to stop giving it gas and pray it picks up .We love the truck and think it has so much potential but fell we might have bought a lemon although i have noticed it has been a comon problem from reading this on the fourms .Has anyone come up with a solid soulition because its going to the mechanics again for a second time .Of course the dealer is paying for it .Also the turn siginal sound seems to stay on alot even if we havnt used it seems to stop if i apply the brakes worse in the cold .And one more thing it has the cd and tape player radio only fron left speakers work i chked the speakers and there not blown and sometimes thought it seems if the truck has been running long enough all the speakers come on and help would be extreemly great as time is running out and were afraid the dealer will not cover after a certian time as you all know how most of them work .there was no warranty with it just NYS lemon law warranty and so far the dealer is being cool .WE LOVE THIS TRUCK AND DONT WANT TO LOOSE IT PLZ HELP ..Thank You

For your drivability concern, does it get worse the more you drive or basiclly the same? If it's the same, the first thing I would check is the fuel filter. If it get worse the more you drive, possibly a partially clogged cat. A bad fuel pump can also cause both kinds of drivablity concerns.

For the speaker concern, I would pull the radio and check for power going to the speakers.

Boy kalamar, your kind of being harsh dont u think? As for the Blazer problems definately check to see if it needs a fuel filter. The fuel pump could be going bad also. Make sure your radio is adjusted right per owners manual instructions. It could be faded all to to one side of the car. Thats what it sounds like to me. If your turn signal is staying on it is probally the little relay that makes it blink. It may be under the dash but I'm not sure.(it may be silver) Good Luck

As far as the fuel filter it looks good not sure bout the fuel pump and its not the actual turnsignal indicator its the sound of it thats always on ,as for the radio lol all the settings are adjusted correctly ,not sure if its hooked up to an am and theres a short in the amp or the wires to the speakers themselfs. The mechanic and the dealer are responsible for the engine but not my other problems .He also checked the fuel pump and filter and both where fine with no water in the gas tank They are doing prossecess of elemination but thought i could get some help on here to help them out

There is only one way to fix the problems that you have and that you will have with this vehicle. Sell it and buy a full size Chevy or and import….
No seriously the problem with the turn signal is the switch it’s a couple of hundred dollars from the dealer and aftermarket parts aren’t much less expensive that is a very common part to go out. Next item is the acceleration the prior to ’01 blazers have had issues with the fuel injectors I’ve heard several stories of 98-00 blazers need a complete set of fuel injectors. Next let me make a prediction the next problem you will have with the vehicle is ball joints because unless you drive it like a grandma you won’t get more then 30k of a set.
I would recommend that you sell this vehicle as fast as you can.
If any one is interested I have a 2000 blazer that I am willing to sell…..

I'd check the fuel injectors too, esp if you've already had the pump & filter checked.

I've got a 1997 Blazer LS; bought it new & now have a little over 110,000 miles on it. I drive it a lot-neither " dogging it out" nor babying it either. I even bagged a deer with the darn thing!
(ok so it was in Florida, where the deer are the size of Labrador retrievers, but still...)
Biggest thing is that I keep the regular maintainence up on it & it's run great for me so far. Even have the original ball joints.
A few things have worn out in the last 2-3 thousand miles-wiper motor & alternator, for example... but they made it past the 100K mark.

Only big gripe I had with it so far was the water pump which died at only 30K miles, but that was under warranty.

I have no doubt that the occasional "lemon" gets through, but overall they're great. I see a lot of older Blazers-1980's era and up still rollin', so something must be working.

Just my two cent's worth...good luck with yours!
-Mike

Gads, instead of being assholes, why don't you try to help....

1st off... Check your fuel filter, baring that have a pressure test done on the fuel pump at the shrader valve on the back of the intake. It should be between 60 and 65 PSI. If both those are good, more than likely you will need a new injector. (Gm has a new style that solves a lot of issues)

2nd replace your blinker relay with an electronic one. If that doesn't help than yes, you will need a new turn signal assembly.

3rd. Your head unit is bad. Get it replaced immediately

I have never heard of anyone having the same problem with the radio. I am glad I'm not the only one. I have had it checked out by several places and no one can figure out what is wrong with it either. My left speakers work great and nothing is wrong with the speakers on the right. The wires are all connected properly and occassionally (when I go over a small bump on the road or something) the right speakers will come on for a few minutes and work just fine and then mysteriously go away again! If anyone has as answer to this problem it would be very helpful!
I also have the power problem when turning. Thanks for the tips on that I will try it.

well if you really want the radio to work...i would suggest replacing it with an aftermarket unit, running new speaker wire and replacing the front speakers...can be done with decent products for about...250-300

If your right speakers are going on and off during bumps and turns, it sounds like a pinched wire. I would run temp replacement wires from the back of the radio to the right speakers and take it for a bumpy, turning drive and see what happens. I think the pinched wire is sometimes shorted taking out the sound by the twisting body.

I had a simular problem with the radio in my 88 Blazer. Where only the rear speakers worked and the front would cut in and out. I checked everything. Even switched the wires from the back speakers to the front and vice versa to make sure it wasn't just the speakers. I'd notice that if I leaned back in my seat the speakers would cut out and if I leaned forward they would cut back in. I figured i must have had a pinched wire under the seat causeing the short. But when I went to look under the seat I noticed that one of the front brackets that mounted the seat to the floor was almost rusted in two. I fabed myself a new bracket and it fixed the cutting out of the speakers. Who knew? Guess it must have been a grounding problem cause I haven't had the problem since i fixed the seat.
