2001 Ford F250 - Code Alarm Elite 3100 - add remote start?

I just purchased a 2001 Ford F250 Crew Cab V10 and it has a Code Alarm 3100 security system installed in it. The alarm system works great, but I want to add a remote start to the truck...

Looking for suggestions as to my best route to do this. I hate to get rid of the Code Alarm system as it was a fairly expensive system when it was put in, but am willing to do so if necessary.

Please offer suggestions of brand and model(s) to use as I have not followed the links since I put in a DEI system into my old truck about four years ago.

Thanks in advance.

Well, I don't sell Code Alarm units anymore but you use to be able to add remote starters to them. It isn't as nice as if you bought a remote start/alarm combo but they work alright.

If you can't go that route, I always plug DEI. They have some of the nicest remote start alarms out there. www.directed.com

Thanks for the info. Replying to keep the thread on the first page to see if anyone else has additional/more direct info on the CA Elite 3100.

I've requested an installation manual through Code Alarm - but who knows how long it will take to get back to me...

Assuming the CA system can handle this - I am also looking at the Valet 551T which is an add-on to an alarm system with an extra channel available. Anyone had any experience with this unit from Valet???

Thanks for all responses.

Yep, it was replaced by the 561t. If you get the 561t and later do not like how it works (like the distance), you can add the antenna and remote to it. It's sister part number is 561r. It is the exact same thing but automatically comes with one remote and antenna. BOTH systems are set up to be able to arm/disarm OEM alarms. Not sure if you could get them to do that to an aftermarket alarm though.

Here's a schematic for a 561t
