Well where do i start?
Is is true the YUkons are prone to Fuel pump failure? My 2000 Yukons gas gauge has been acting up- it will pin to "E" when there is fuel in the tank, then after a bit returns to normal.

One more question, My Yukon came with factory foglights, but the bums that owned it before put these cheesey after market foglight assemblies in the front bumper. I ordered the factory folights that fit nice and flush in the bumper...only thing is, they spliced into the wire befor ethe clip that goes to the foglamp. there is a black and purple going to the clip, and there is a red and black that was spliced out that went to the aftermarket fogs..wtf.

your gas gauge is electric and that could be a loose connection somewhere.

As for the factory fog lights,
did they cut off the factory connectors?
You do not have to worry about polarity, the fog lights are plastic and the wires go into the light bulb socket.
Factory wire colors are
Purple - Plus 12V
Black - Ground
Aftermarket colors should be
Red - Plus 12V
Black - Ground

I didn't know that any other vehicles had this gas gage problem besides the C5 Corvettes and Saturns but yours sounds similar. Currently I'm going through that hassle with an '02 Vette. Sulfer in the gasoline screws up the sending unit and it behaved OK until about 1/4 tank then it would drop past empty like power was off. They re-programmed it and it was worse but different. After 4 tanks of Shell Premium and 3 big doses of Techron it is much better but still unreliable. It's going back to the dealer Monday. Yours may not be affected by this but I thought I'd run it by you anyway.

I had the same problem with my 02 Yukon XL. The dealer said it was a fualty fuel sensor caused by sulfur in the gas. They put some cleaner in the tank, which didn't help. They then proceeded to change out the "front" fuel tank sensor. 1 week later they changed out the "rear" tank sensor. Funny thing about the sensors, I only have one tank!!. Sicne changing out, I have had no problems. One questin for this board, if gasoline contians sulfur (and all does), but the sulfur screws up the fuel sensors, what the heck are we supposed to run our gasoline powered vehicles on?

you do have 2 tanks with 2 sensors.
The large front tank is found in all Yukon models.
The small rear tank is in the extended frame section of the longer XL.
The fuel filler pipe goes into the end of the rear tank.
