You guys ever been moved by something?

I was justing think deeply about some stuff. I saw Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon for the second time last night and was really moved by that movie. It's kind of a personal thing however, It really makes me want to go to China and learn about ancient culture and things like that. I really liked the movie and can see why it won it's awards. I'm just the type of Person who want s a sanctuary up high on a mountain range with a river below and a lush green valley and hillsides with trees. That would be inner peace.

Of course we've been moved before (well, I guess I can only speak for me - I certainly have been). I've been moved by lots of movies, for one. One of the most moving movies I've ever seen was Fight Club. By the third time I had seen it, yes, that feeling had begun to fade a little, but still, few movies speak to me as personally and on as many levels as that movie did. You probably will not find a bigger fanatic of this movie anywhere.

As for Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon, it sits high (very high) on my list of movies to see.

I won't say anything about it. but, it is a good movie, the plot is complex but the filming locations are Absoultuely amazing and the effects come from the same guy who did the Matrix.

In all seriousness, I got such a feeling watching Apollo 13 and old tapes of lift offs. Also, just today (well yesterday) when Bentley crossed the line I got such a rush of pride.

I love this movie. I'm so pissed I missed it in the theatre. For a while, I watched about five times a week. I went out and bought the book last week and am about halfway through it, but I actually think I like the movie better. (doesn't happen often!) I'll attribute that to Fincher.

It also made me go out and buy a Pixies album for the song from the end credits.

If you haven't seen it, rent it tonight.

I loved Fight Club too. As far as Crouching Tiger, it is a good movie, with awesome visuals, but I thought the fight scenes where just ok.

Now, what I have been moved by? Well, you guys have probably heard this a million times, I know I did and even considered just a hokie and cheesy cliche at times. The birth of my daughter was probably the most moving experience Ive ever had. It is hard to grasp if you havent been there, I know I underestimated the event before it happened. Trust me, if you are there to see you child born, you will know what I am talking about. You can not describe it with words or comparisons to anything else....thats moving.

Wow man, thanks for sharing - seriously. That's something for me to look forward to, all in due time. I'm sure some day, when the time is right, I too will be a father.

Yeah, Fight Club was good. I also really liked American Beauty and Office Space for their same message, of sort of finding yourself, although they did it in completely opposite formats. Great Movies.

Two things.

The Champ will move you - if you have never seen it (or even heard of it) its worth the effort to see. If it doesnt hit you or bring a tear to your eye, you're dead inside.

Let me say this about Crouching Tiger - I thought it dragged something fierce and my fiance (who is Chinese and moved here a couple decades ago btw) thought it was, at best, a typical Chinese Opera style movie. She said it really didnt have anything special in it other then the name of the actors. If the movie moved you, then it was a success, but I'll put many movies above it for really sparking feelings.

I also loved O brother where art thou Patch Adams and the Jerk and Roxanne(sorry, my list goes on and on...)

ive had a number of things move me, fight club for one (JD, i have a friend that watchs it at least 2 times a week).

the thing that has moved me the most is a kid i worked with last year in a special ed summer school. he has cerebral palsey, and cannot talk. at the time he was confined to a wheel chair (just think of timmy from south park, but his name is dylan), but he had a walker just in hopes it might come to use. he is a lazy kid so he didnt want to move around with the walker that much, but i tried anyway. this year when i saw him the first time, he was walking with a new walker, and he had nothing holding him up in a standing postion. but the greatest thing is that he still remembers me.

I was watching the Special Olympics one day (why I don't know). They were doing a foot race. The leader fell really hard. He was using a single crutch. The kid in 2nd place, who was only like 25 feet from the finish. He stopped, turned around, picked up the kid that fell, and helped him across the finish line.. Most moving thing I have ever watched in my life.

That's awesome.

I was moved by Crouching tiger, hidden dragon because Li Mu Bai went through his life not telling that other girl (what-ser-name) that he loved her. And he used his last breath to do this. I thought that was really sweet and made me realize I'm wasting my life. As for the fights, I agree that it was okay. If you've ever been raised on Chinese movies, Crouching tiger's were mediocre.

Groundhogs day also moved me, and so did Joy Luck Club when in the end when Ming Na told her sisters that their mom died. I'm a guy who doesn't mind those touchy feely movies.

I'd have to say that perhaps one thing that has moved me and still haunts me today is the images of the orphanages in Romania and those in Russia. Well, let's face it, any orphanage. One can feel so helpless when it comes so seeing children at such a disadvantage, with seemingly no way out.

There are a few movies that have moved me, but for the sake of avoiding ridicule, I'll just keep those to myself. ;)

I've never seen crouching tiger but it sounds good from I've read here and what I've been told locally. I've been moved by very few movies. Songs on the other hand have a much greater affect.

I'll admit something that moves me. There are a few things that move me in movies. Every time I watch It's a Wonderful Life, and I get to the scene where George Bailey is on the bridge running away from his existence, crying and begging for his life back, I lose it. I feel so silly, but evey time, I cry my eyes out during that scene. And I don't do too much better in Top Gun when Goose dies, either.

i'm not an emotional guy, but one film that really moved me was 'dancer in the dark' with bjork. that movie was deep. well filmed and well played by the cast. bjork deserved the cannes best actress and the best film was spot on. forget about all thoses ridiculing bjork and watch it. you will be moved by it.

Well, let me put my $0.02 in here! I've had people move me, like my high school sweetheart, or even so far as the picture of the firefighters lifting the American flag over the rubble of the WTC (somewhat reminiscent of the Iwo Jima thing).

There's also a couple of movies that moved me to tears. Chief among those being "Forest Gump", when his wife died, and the scene at the end of "Jack the Bear" where the little boy finally speaks.

Of course, there are a couple more which hold some significant emotional value to me, but there's not enuff bandwidth to adequately explain which ones, or why.

to me...the crouching tiger and hidden dragon movie wasn't that good... there are few chinese movies are really good...it was release in the U.S. i watched it 11 yrs ago(when i was 12?) i still have the vhs...it was jet li's first movie...... i think jet li won chinese national kung fu competetion 7 times...he is one of a kind
cha yun fat(li mu bai) was very popular in asia 10 years ago....i rememeber my sister was so crazy about him....she had like 3' x 6' poster in her room..

for the special olympic...i watched once on NBC...there were showing 100m swim(not sure)...there was a guy from some africa country..no legs...he only practiced in some small swimming pool(size of normal house hold pool).....he got the last place but he finished it....people were cheering...it really touched me
