Maybe this question has been asked before but I did a search and nothing came along.

The question is, the base color of the model is already Grey? Would it be better to still spray a layer of Grey primer over it before I start to spray the colors on? How would it affect the color and result of the spray overall?

Primer will remove any imprefections from whatever you plan to paint and will ensure a smooth coat.

Also if your model has sharp edges and turns, your final layer will not bleed from those.

thanks for the answers guys :) I guess I'll just spray primer on my models, no matter what the base color is!

Yes because purpose of primer is to give colour something to "hang on" and not only to give base colour.
