Ok, so this is kind of funny. I was just killing some time surfing the net earlier, talking on IM, etc. So at one point I asked a friend of mine (a girl, not a 10 on the attractiveness scale but still cool nonetheless) if she wanted to hang out tomorrow, see a movie or something. We invited other people too... then later, someone else asks me what the deal was. Apparently she had told my other friend that I had asked her out tonight. Huh??? How on earth does that work? lol, I guess a "date" means different things to different people... :lol2:

coming from a girl, I think most girls just try to read between the lines too much. I mean ok to you guys, "hey lets hang out and watch a movie or something" is just that, hanging out and watching a movie or somthing. To a girl, its omg is this a date? or just hanging out? omg what should I wear, something sexy or something casual if we're just hanging out? omg what perfume? omg, do I need to do my nails? etc.

I dunno, I'm pretty dense with stuff like that and I hang out with mainly guys. So to me hanging out and a movie, is just that. But a couple of my girlfriends are always trying to read between the lines when they do that. Makes my head spin and gets me dizzy thinking about their convos about guys. Leaves me with this feeling of, wtf did I miss something?

Apparently he died of laughter before he could explain it to anyone!

I agree with FairyDust, most females, all ages, read WAY too much into what men do or say and waste WAY too much time trying to figure it out ...... when there is nothing to figure

oh man whats even worse is when women expect you to read between the lines! WTF! My gf does that to me ALL the TIME! She expects me to pick up these little hidden messages in everything she says and becuase 99% of the time i dont, she gets mad at me like i dont care about her or anything.

Here's the subject:

Man is talking about subject.

Woman is talking AROUND the subject, and never gets to the point.

Man gets frustrated because the woman won't talk directly about the subject.

Woman gets frustrated because the man doesn't get all the hints she's been dropping.

Now both are mad.

Honestly would you want to figure out the female mind? Think about it, if you knew everything that went through her head you would get bored. If you could predict every word she was going to say there would be no point in having a conversation would there? Sometimes its nice to know what they are thinking but not always. I love my G/F because she always keeps me guessing (several other reasons as well)

"Keeping you guessing" is much different than "Failing to communicate"

If she wants it to be a date, she'll be more likely to call it a date.

Tell her you're not that easy, and she'll have to buy you dinner, too, before she can get on your junk. ;)

Think about if some hot girl you know invited you to go do something with her, you would think sweet!, maybe if i play my cards right ill hook up tonight. Shes probably thinking that, the only thing is girls cant seem to keep thoughts inside their head, they have to share them with everyone.

I never really got into the whole game playing thing between girls and guys. I had to have my best friend explain to me about 'the game' because I kept trying to be up front and mature about any 'relationship' and I guess I made all the girls too shy .. or, something... anyhoo, it never worked out for me. :loser:

I agree! Thats something I've noticed with my girlfriends, they don't keep their mouths shut. If I wanna tell a friend something that I DO NOT want to get around, I tell my best guy friends cause they don't go blabbing around. I only tell my girlfriends what I don't care that other people know.

Dude that sounds like me and my husband, except he never gets to the point. He is the most indecisive person I have ever met. If I ask him something that only requires a yes or not answer, I have to flat out tell him after 10 minutes of arguing th just fucking tell me YES OR NO! lol. It drives me nuts.

Well ec, I'd think that since she had that reaction she's into you.

Yeah I agree, if the girl wasn't into you she wouldn't have gone and said that. Or she hasn't gotten laid in a while and is thinking "omg maybe I'll get laid!" :grinno:

"Now what we have here is a failure to communicate..."

I was once in a similar situation, except for a friend of mine set up a 'date' for one of her friends (who I did not know, but apparently this other 'friend' knew me quite well). She sold it to me on a platter of "We'll all be there", with the 'we' turning out to be me and that girl. That didn't work so well.

Women are impossible. Subtle hints do not work with me either, and I've explained this to my fiance (I'm a blunt person). I also explained that I'm not good with words or very affectionate...

And I'm begining to wonder if I need to call it quits. Unless she changes her expectations of me, I won't be able to support her emotionally. What to do...

FairyDust

My husband was sorta like that, he was actually more affectionate in the beginning and then slacked off. But he was never one of those guys to show up with flowers or anything to begin with. I "thought" I could change him. Hell no, I've given up. If I want flowers I buy them myself lol.

But unless your girlfriend comes to that same conclusion and just learns to deal with it, its always gonna disappoint her.

Just leave the women alone. Don't bother with them.

BobChestnut

I had a relationship with a girl and all she would do is leave subtle hints. Basically the relationship was a disaster, she'd leave a hint i wouldn't get it and then she get mad at me for not being there for her or not being caring enough. Women aren't that hard to understand well at least the less complex stuff. They basically think the same way as men only they have differen't ways of showing their emotions and differen't ways of taking things that other people say. I also personally think that men could be somewhat more like women and be more caring to other people around them.

Dude you see how i act with Michelle. I'm caring and nice to her and we get along perfectly. All you have to do w/ a girl is:

1. Be nice to her and her friends so that her friends reinforce that you are a nice guy.
2. Make subtle compliments...even if they seem meaningless it shows you care.
3. Talk on the phone...actually talk. Make up stuff to talk about and see where it leads.
4. Make her laugh...don't make it seem intentional all the time.
5. Seem interested (even if you're not) in her as a person...not as someone to screw.
6. Be yourself and it helps to be spontaneous.

Do this and you're in. I'm "engaged" so take this how you want, but it works.

Seriously. If you just say yes for almost everything and no to almost nothing and don't argue it will make your life much easier. It worked for a long time out of the 2 g/fs I have had. One was threw middle school and almost high school. The other was like 2-3 months during college.
