Just kind of curious for some general knowledge on the subject. I was wondering about the swapping an EVO VII-VIII motor into a 95 Eclipse GSX. If anyone out there has any info on it please let me know. Thanks guys.

It's just a question, I didn't say I was doing it. But who wouldn't I want an EVO powered Eclipse? I mean I know that they have essentially the same powerplant. But having the brand spankingly new 4G63 in a car that I already love (design, layout, Time [blood, sweat, tears]) would be like having a rebirth for my car. So why ask why? Just give me the damn answers to my questions! Haha, Just messing around. Any more info from anyone would be greatly appreciated. Thanks fellas.

I think it would just be easier to get a low milage engine then fully build it up and drop it right in less work and money.

it would be ridicolousy expensive and require TONS of custom work since the engine is backwards (cam gears on passenger side instead of drivers side like eclipse) if you want a new 4g63 just get a new eclipse engine from mitsubishi it would only cost 2k-3k and would drop right in

True. But saying work and money were no object. Then would you still concider me crazy?

ya because if work and money wasnt an issue. an eclipse engine would still be better it would just be a factory fit everything would be alined more even the way it was intended to. so in either case money is an issue or isnt the eclipse 4g63 would be better.

Well okay Mr. Smartypants. You didn't have to anlyze my question into complete and utter idiosy. It was and always has been just a question. So if need be have Jake Vogul (AF Admin) delete this post. Then I'm sure you would be happy as a lark. Haha, I'm just joking around dude. Didn't mean to stir any feathers, just felt like going on a rant. Take care and thanks for the info.

If money and work aren't an issue, why drive an Eclipse?

I thought the EVOVIII swap was not possible due to everything on the engine being reversed..

Number of VR4s at 10s or better->10 maybe

Number of 4g63 powered cars in the same range-> multitudes

1stGenRocks is right. I realy think the only good thing about the motor is they fixed the crank walk thing, but you could still spend the $$$$$$ and just fix up a 1st gen and slap that in

Seems like Lando only posts in the dumbest threads. He always brings humor to it, but its like its the only time he posts in the DSM forum lately.

Most of the tech has been discussed here, Tuners, NABR, etc. This leaves me with not alot to do in that area, and when there is an urgent unanswered question, If I know something, I'll chime in.

THe other dozen sites I mod/post/participate in/etc really eat my time...

...then there is that crappy "work from 8-5" thing.

i only work from 10am to 6pm. :grinyes:

on the original topic, if money and time is no object why not just put in a v12 corvette engine lol.

ok i have a 98 eclipse spyder and i also was thinking about putting the evo motor in it....i still dont quite understand why it would be so hard....i mean wouldnt it be worth it anyway??? the evo is fast to start with and my car is 312lbs lighter so it would have to be crazy fast then....is there anyone who thinks its worth it and if not is there anyone who has an idea of what i should do to it to beat a honda s2000????

Welcome to AF
First, Do not bring back thread this old period. And it would be to much trouble bc you would have to make your car AWD, and parts are to expersive.

Not to mention what it would cost for the motor/tranny itself....then you have to add on a wiring harness, ecu, axles, and allllllllllllllll that good stuff. If you really want to beat an S2000, go AWD.

Hi, and welcome to AF. We're here to help, but please read some of the rules on how to best use these boards. Bringing back old threads is discouraged (this one is almost 3 years old!).
