Faulty spark plug wires hurt computer?

:confused: Just got my 1992 Cherokee 4.0L out of the shop from replacing the computer. They said the spark plug wires were "worn out" and caused permanent damage to the computer. And although I've already paid the bill, I'm skeptical and curious about this. Anyone ever heard of this type of thing? BTW, the plug wires were only about 2 yrs old, with maybe 15K miles on them.
