Hello all
I recently bought a 2003 GT Spyder V6. Im looking for some advice on what I could do to give it more HP with out killing the bank account..
I been reading the recent post and I see very little on the V6 so any advice would be great... :)
Please let me know estimated cost and what order things should be done... I would like to work on the car as a project while still using it.
price range i would be willing to spend over the next couple month's would be in the 4-7k range
Thanks

if you wanna spend between 4-7k, you might as well get urself a turbo

yeah, look to spend all of that. the turbo kit will run you around +/- $4-5k. then to get tuned, tires and brakes..... its not a cheap car to mod, but when and if your willing to put the money (serious amounts) it will be a pretty quick little car. expect the turbo instalation to take at least a whole weekend, if you buy a pre-fab kit. you'll have to get a thread fitting welded into the oilpan so the turbo can feed oil. then you'll have to take it to shop to tune the e-manage and work out any other bugs. then you'll need a 3" exhaust and muffler, which will again cost a bit. if you have a welder and pipe bender you could do it for as little as $20 bucks. i've not even covered the basics- the list goes on my friend..... the best advice i can give you for the time being-
FIAutosports.com
dont buy a supercharger
dont waste money on a CAI
dont get a loud "trashcan" exhaust
dont put a giant wing on the back
prepare to spend the $7K
stop watching the fast and the furious

1st off, how old are you, and is this your daily driver? If so go get an older Rx-7, or 1st gen DSM and toy with that. There is an old addige... If it aint broke dont fix it! Your car is already quaizie qiuck. When you bought this car you knew you wearn't buying a speed machine (or at least I should hope so). There are many cars you can pick up for 2K, and drop another 3K into it, and it wil kill most V-8 muscle cars.

i would go the turbo route. there are no complete kits available right now. You could either go with a custom setup which wouldnt run but maybe $3000, or you could buy one of the incomplete kits and finish the job. if you dont want to go turbo, you could go with the supercharger. RIPP modifications makes a very good kit for our cars.
if you dont want to go with those two, then i would suggest getting headers, CAI, and exhaust. Go with the Hytech headers. they are the only headers that will give you atleast 35hp. these arent produced any more so you would have to find them for sale. good luck and welcome to the 3G community

stickin it 2 has a good point- a side car to mess with is a better route. for the amount of money it would cost to turbo your 3G, you could buy a nice 1G and mod it out, and be running in the 13's.

I'd have to agree on getting an older model, they already come w/turbo and can easily be upgraded. i look back now and realize that i should of done that, but im happy with what i got...the 3g's take alot of money to do alot of stuff with...if all else fails, just get urself some nos!

but they want to make the 3G faster, not some other car. they asked how to make the 3G faster with 4-7k.
