I painted this wheel set many years ago and never used them. Now I'm starting a new project and I want to use it.

How can I take this awful gold paint off?! :uhoh:

Thanx in advance,

Andre

What type of paint was it?

I'm afraid I won't remember... :(

Brake fluid will probably be your easiest-to-come-by and best bet for mystery paint. It may take a while, though. Be careful with that stuff.

Visit the FAQ thread for more links on stripping paint.

It looks like Tamiya acrylic to me, try some rubbing alcohol on a toothpick to see if you can get the paint to rub off, if it does come off it could well be acrylic.

Are you wanting to preserve the chrome finish?

No, the chrome is not so important...my fear is all about the wheel itself...

Done! Used some cotton and alcohol...the chrome is also gone, but the plastic is perfect. :)
