Deckplate

what side would it be better to cut out the hole for the deckplate? i have a 96 2.4 4cyl. also would you have to close it up if its raining?and last could you do both the deckplate and remove the air elbow

The best place to put the deckplate is anywhere away from the majority of engine heat most likely towards the front. find a flat surface that is easily accessible for you to easily close or open. but you can leave it open, it is under the hood covered from rain. as far as the elbow, i don't think it would make a difference.
