i'm new to this forum, so here we go.
i just bought a 95 jetta. i have two minor electrical problems. 1)the speedomoter and tachometer won't light up when the headlights are on, and 2)the blower for the heater only works at the hightest setting.
any ideas for how to fix these problems would be great. my first thoughts are the switch for the blower and the fuse for the dash lights. i admit i'm not terribly familiar with working on cars in any aspect, but can learn.
thanks for any help,
ash

Did you check all the fuses under your dash? Then you can check the light bulbs in the dash bezel. There are a few steps to get to them, but simple. Sounds like the switch on the blower.

If all the other interior lights (heater control, etc...) come on with the headlights then it's the bulbs in the cluster. If fan works on high only it's the resistor pack located in thee blower housing behind the glove box area.

everything else comes on, so it must be the bulbs, as the manual says nothing about fuses for the bulbs only. the heater is getting looked at on monday.
thanks for the help

Just how does one get to these bulbs? And do you know how many are in there for the center cluster (Tach and Speedometer)?

Hello Mr Grim - were you ever able to get the heater fixed. I have the same issue where mine only works on the highest setting.
