Short Ram

Hey I was just wondering what the difference between CAI and short ram is if there is a difference. I have a sentra gxe and AEM doesn't make a CAI for it, just the se-r, but they do make short ram intake and I was just wondering if I could get some insight on it.

The Idea behind CAI is to get cooler air into the engine. Thus why a true CAI is sealed off from the engine compartment and draws from a fender or front bumper. The idea behind short ram is to make the length the air has to travel to get into the engine as short as possible. In reality if you are thinking of short ram, dont. it will show no more imporvements than droping a K&N filter on your stock airbox and removeing the scilencer. If you can seal a short ram off to a hood scoop then do so because that will give you short ram and cold air effect.

actually, in most cars the real benefit comes from the less restrictive intake tract, which the short ram offers just as well as the CAI. Cold air intakes don't offer air that is significantly colder than a short ram in the REAL WORLD. If you are capable of removing your silencer and are willing to possibly damage your stock components in doing so, go ahead, but for alot of people installing a short ram is alot easier.
