Hey out there I had the misfortune of figuring out how to change the oil on my 2002 Saturn Vue so I thought I would submit some information that I found out the hard way. First, the oil filter is in a oil canister that twist off,we tried to pry it off at it cost us over $75.00 to replace it so as a result I have the part number for the canister and lid:It is called a oil filter shell, part number 9194659 made for GM in Germany, there are no aftermarket replacements so you are stuck with dealer pricing. Also, I bought a bulk of oil filter's off ebay they were genuine saturn parts my oil filter box reads 3.0L V6 (L81) part 21018826. I hope this helps, if you get your oil changed by a mechanic tell them not to tighten the oil plug or canister with too much torque or you might waste alot time like us trying to get to the oil filter that is housed in the oddball oil filter canister.

LOL you tried to pry off the oil filter cap?!?! OMG. You're a nut. All you had to do was read the owners manual. Thats what I did with my 2000 LS V6 (same engine as the VUE).
It is weird though the way they set that up. But you really did a good number on that cover. Thank god you didnt wreck the threads on the block housing. You'd really be up shi*s creek without a paddle!
