$$$ Question

After doing a little research on this wonderfull forum, I've discovered that I can get my SES reading for free at many auto parts stores; after this is done I expect to have a code, that will hopefully be deciphered by this board, that will tell me that my MAF thing or O2 sensor are bad...

My question is what would a guy expect to pay to fix one, or both of these things and how long will it take for I CANNOT afford to miss work right now. Is it a complex procedure or is it something a guy might try and fix himself? I know which kind of hammer to use on a 9/16 nut but can't quite get my screwdriver into my ear when I tape it to my elbow.

These are both things you can do easily. The MAF is basically attached to your airbox (look for the electrical wires and you will see it). The O2 Sensors will be more difficult. They are just a matter of getting a socket on them and having a long enough ratchet or bar to break them free. The are located on the exhaust pipes there will be 2-4 sensors.

No special tools are required for the MAF sensor.

For the O2 sensor you will need an O2 sensor socket (you can use one for free from autozone with deposit). Or like me, I used a basin wrench to get around the sensor.
