tire size

I just got 4 tires in excellent condition for free. They are LT 265/75R16. Will these look too big or lame on a 98 z71 ext. cab pickup? I have stock size which are 245's , and these new ones look much bigger.

Not at all, although it will throw the speedo off unless you reprogram.
I thought all Z71's came with 265's, guess I was wrong...

yes all z-71's from 88-98 come from factory with 265/75. 245/75's are stock for the newer body style 1500. that size tire will look fine and have absolutly no problems fitting, in fact 285/75's fit w/o major rubbage also.

Thanks for help guys. Just for the record i'm looking at my original window sticker says LT245/75R16C BW TIRES REAR and LT245/75R16C BW TIRES FRNT.

Yeah, the 245's are standard on z71, 265 are ordered.

245 is my standard spare tire. Every 94-98 z71 ive ever seen has had 265's stock. But im not an expert. I dont care what they come with , i know they look good with 3" body lift , 15x10 MT classics 2's , and 33x12.50R15 which is also 305/70R16 if u have 16" rims.

It'd look a hell of a lot better with a 6" suspension lift and some 35's.

I have no room to talk though, my truck has the gayest sized tires...225/75/16's.

I worked on a stock z-71 with 305/70's on it, they must've rubbed like crazy.

Its actually all about the width of your wheels. You could prolly fit 305's on your stock rims, But any aftermarket rims are just gonna be too offset. Cause 305's are only 1 1/2" bigger than the 265's. But with a 3" body lift and 33"s adn 15x10's my tires scrubbed like crazy. I had to cut a helluva lot of the gravel guard off, and even crank the torsion bars about 6 turns. But i could have prollly fit 315's or 35's if i kept my stock rims. Also just in case anyone doesn't know how to convert metric tires to inches heres a lil equation. Metric - 265/75R16 First number is the width in millimeters/second number is the percent of the width that makes the sidewall height and of course the rim size. First divide the width by 25.4 to get the width in inches. 265 divided by 25.4 is 10.4. so the tire is 10.4 inches wide. Now multiply the width (10.4) by the percent (second number)Move decimal place to the front. 10.4 x .75 = 7.8 . 7.8 is the height of one sidewall. now multiply that by 2 Since there are 2 sidewalls in the height) and add the rim size(third number). 7.8 x 2 + 16 = 31.6 (the height). So the tire size in inches is 31.6x10.4 R16. Hope this helps someone.
