Yeah the Skyline is comming here, but in the shell of an Infinity. Even though, It is not a GTR or anything close. For one, the engine is no longer the RB26DETT Inline 6. It now takes on either a 2.5 or 3.0 litre V6. It appears that it has lost all sporty aspects. Instead of a 0-60 time around 5.1 seconds (GTR) the Skyline GT 300 (or infinity) has a 0-60 time of around 7 seconds. It will indeed make an exceptional coorperate ride for those who would like power along with all the luxourious goodies like leather, and seats that adjust in almost every way you can think of, as well as specially conformed headrests. In its conversion, the skyline has lost the agressive body lines and the trademark ferari style round tail lights. All in all its not the GTR we have all hoped for, but another refined peace of work comming from the heart of Japan's auto industry.

Here are the Specs for those who like numbers.

Specifications (Skyline GT-300)

if i'm not mistaken the G35 will have a 3.5 liter engine. hence the name G (35) since nissan names their cars by displacement numbers hence 240sx (2.4 liters) older I30's (3.0 liters), 2k2 I35's (3.5 liters). and since its goin to be a 3.5 liter engine, i can safely assume that its goin to be the pathfinder/maxima/altima/I35's VQ35DE. plus its goin to be RWD!!!! this thing is goin to haul sooo much ASS. its goin to kill the IS300. actually the MAXIMA's already can do that:) and its goin to give the bmw 3 series a run for their money, and might even beat them in performance. go NISSAN!

I was hunting around in Nissan's official website and I did a little investigation....it appears that the Japan model skyline of this model can come with either a 2.5 or 3.0 V6 here is the rough translation for ya.

classic I6 engine of previous Skyline has replaced by two new sports V6 - a 2.5-litre producing 158kW and a 3.0-litre 190kW.

I am not saying that the american model infinity will have this engine though. My point being that the engine varies according to emission specs and what not.... like here the Lexus IS has a 6 cylinder as opposed to the Toyota Altezza (JDM IS) which has an Inline four.

so you may be right in that the american Infinity if this model will have the 3.5 V6.

Keep on rockin Nissan

Well, this should be rather interesting. A Nissan in Infinity clothing. Though Infinity's cars aren't bad looking by any means. I also can't wait to see the next ZX car.

I was over in Japan when the launched it last summer, and all I can say is that I was dissapointed. I also was having a conversation with my friends brother who was really into drifing and cars and happens to work for Honda Japan, he, as I did thought that the new Skyline was a horrible sports car; it was a good luxury car though. I have a feeling that it will be somewhat popular here, provided that the aftermarket is there for it. i have a feeling too that somehow we will get a lower power one here stateside.

TRU Racing: I have a question for you. I vaugely remember an ad in a car mag when I was in Japan for a new model Skyline (this was in summer '01). It was the R34 bodystyle and was in a brown color. It was not a VSpec but something else, any clue what I am talking about?? I belive that it was a more luxury geared model.

Maybe that was it...

everything is identical to the gt-r v spec. the only difference is the softer shocks, and more amenities such as leather seats and all the other stuff to make a skyline more livable.
