well, i just got a 93 240 se for christmas and im havin a bit of trouble out of it.

the clutch keeps slipping, especially uphill.
when im keeping a steady speed i hear a weird whilstle noise, it goes away when i push the gas more tho.
the damn power steering hose is leaking like a bitch.

nothin too big, just annoying. im getting a new hose tomorrow and im pretty sure i need a clutch kit. oh ya, when i start out in 1st i hear a rubber squeeking noise, which im guessing is the clutch.
any suggestions?

i just got all the fluids changed

that squeeking noise is the timing belts on your pulley you most likely need new ones. you might wanna check the engine compressions and check for other leaks on seals and stuff. but if its not the timing belts on you pulley its the timing chain. yeah thats a bitch to change. um yeah might wanna change the clutch to exedy or something. anyway gewdluck!!!!

The KAs don't have timing belts. You need a new clutch. OEM ones are like $115. Good luck.

They have belts powering the AC, alternator, etc, but it's not a timing belt. I think it's like a V-belt or something.

easy there hercules.. i love my power steering.. i've driven cars without it and in my opinion, the only time you don't need it is in the 1/4 mile..

Yeah, power steering and AC are good, but ABS and all kinds of stability control are useless. LSD is the bext stability control :-P

ok the power steering thing
driving a car wothout power steering is alot easier than driving a car with PS that went out because you have to fight against the motors and such

this happened to my friends car and it was pretty funhny watching him trying to drive it

new clutch if i were you i sould upgrade to an aftermarket one already if you got the cash, so you won't have to do it later on

Yeah, some times my Topaz stalls while I'm driving slowly, and I can't turn the steering wheel lol, well I can, but I gotta fight it. I gotta use 2 hands, which I never do otherwise...

point taken but i like not having power steering except when parking i feel like i have more control over the car w/o PS but to each his own

I like it, but I've never driven a car that didn't have it, my dad didn't have it on his 280Z and he said he didn't mind so....I dunno.

you DO feel as though you have more control of the car but you gotta fight it constantly.. i'd rather have a pump do the work cause i'm one hell of a lazy guy

Yep, you NEED a new clutch!

Check your power belts for the noise and yes its a timing chain, they usually last a VERY VERY long time! I doubt you need any work there...

Do a full tuneup (unless its been done recently) and get to learn your 240 inside & out!

They are usually VERY reliable when taken care of.
Good luck/skill!

ok you guys are off the subject.
get a new clucth and be sure to check you clutch master and slave cylinder(master is located on the firewall on the drivers side. slave in on the undercarage on the passenger side of the transmission. you cant miss it.)make sure they are not leaking because your fork will not fully engage and disengage.
as for the noise i am pretty sure its not you timing chain because that would be a metalic noise and a kit for that runs about $295.00. try tightening all of your belt tensioners, that was my problem.

good luck
