Choke Has Mind Of Its Own

Hello, I'm new here and I hope this question hasn't already been asked. Here it goes. My '57 Nash Metro was running just fine when all of the sudden on day I started her up and it was revving at high rpm's with the choke pushed in all the way. When I pulled the choke out is when the engine idled at lower rpms. I am, by no stretch of the imagination, a mechanic, but I know something is wrong and cannot seem to figure it out. I've had people try to explain what I should do, but it just goes over my head. Is this an easy fix? Can anyone please help me out with this problem?

Thank you!!

umm.... wow..... not sure why you are asking this in a HONDA forum...but i will try and give you advice anyway...

If you dont know about cars.. which it seems your dont.... just get a new carb....relativly cheap and easy to replace. Go to an autozone and ask someone what "CFM" your car is and buy a carb with that same "CFM" rating. You may also need to buy an adaptor plate, so ask if the one your buying is a direct bolt on. And also try and post in the correct forum next time. I dont like seeing flame wars start over someone just looking for advise.

You problem probably lies somewhere in the vac. controlled choke... if you knew how to rebuild one, this would be the easiest and cheapest route.

Also, you may want to sign up for the Nash Car club, they have a tech section for members... you may find better advice there. Heres the Web site.
