i havnt ever tinkered with a computer, i got a rebuilt computer with xp, and oit didnt have a dial up modem in it. so i opened her up and put the one from my old computer in it. i never dreamed that a computer was that simple.

edit, oh the card is a ati radeon 7000. 32 mb

Is the card AGP or PCI? Basically slide it in the slot, and start the computer up, and install the latest drivers.

Easiest way to install a video card.

If your current card is AGP, make sure you buy an AGP video card. Same thing if it's PCI.

Installation:
1) In windows, right-click on My Computer and click Properties. Go into your Device Manager from there (tab at the top if it's Win98 or it's under the Hardware Tab on WinXP).

2) Uninstall old video card drivers.
3) Turn off PC.
4) Remove old card and put in new card in same slot.
5) Boot machine and follow installation instructions included with new card (usually has a CD you can run).

see it's not that hard. it either fits into the slot or it doesnt :) (well sort of) computer hardware repair is so overrated (by people that have no clue about it)

uhh. hopefully you took ESD precautions. Because if you didnt there is a chance you damaged the card or mother board. It may no be immediate but parts of the computer may fail slowly over time. 2 ways is to touch the power supply once in a while or get and ESD wrist strap. Just hope nothing got messed up.

i've fucked with so many computers and I've never used an ESD wristband or any shit like that... i've never broken any computer parts from ESD. I think that was more of an issue back in the day when shit was much more fragile. in fact i've never even heard of anyone every frying something from ESD and I work with LOTS of people that are in computers every day.
