Water pump spewing

I hate my truck!!!! It's a never ending money pit. Now after I got the starter problem fixed, I was driving to work and the check gauges light came on and the truck was begining to overheat. I pulled into a parking lot and the water pump is leaking anit-frezze like there's no tomorrow. It doesn't look like it's going to be easy to get to and replace. Anybody have any experience in replacing this part? Should I take it to a pro and same myself time and aggravation?

i replaced the water pump in my 97 blazer back in the summer. it wasn't as bad as i thought it would be. to remove the fan clutch you'll need a special tool that you can rent/borrow from autozone. also go ahead and replace the thermastat, hoses, belts and all other parts associated with it. its worth the extra $ to do it while you got it all apart.

that is not a bad job at all for the do it yourselfer. you will have to drain the coolent, remove the top half of the fan shroud, remove the fan clutch, the surpintine belt and the water pump pully. then 4 bolts for the water pump and your almost home. you can make the job easier if you have a fan wrench, or borrow one from autozone, everything else just basic tools.
