Can someone tell me what the 1/4 mile time would be for a stock '95 4.0 Aurora or at least an estimate? Also what would win between the stock Aurora and a stock '04 Monte Carlo SS? I know the Aurora makes more power but I also know it's alot heavier. Thanks.

Go to this thread, maybe we can clarify these 15's unless you don't have autobahn or have the limiter time slips don't lie-

internet numbers don't mean anything, you race the '04 monte carlo ss, then you answer your own question.

^^^^^ I can't race a MC SS because I don't even have an Aurora yet. I'm getting the Aurora within two weeks and I just wanted to get an idea of how fast it is by comparing it to the Monte Carlo. The Monte Carlo is the only car somewhat similar to the Aurora that I've ridden in at full speed.

The MC is going to burn you in the quarter mile. The Northstar engines are slow off he line as they are not push rod engines.
But the high end torque and top end speed in these cars is AWESOME. From 40 mph to 100 mph I would put the AURORA up against anything.
Once you guys get to 30 MPH you should be able to fly right by.

30 mph, hmmm about 15 foot, a eight or quarter, I guess that means "doors blown." It was a dead heat off the line, 1 car lenght at 3500, two at 5000, by the time it shifted into Drive, I could see the MC in my side mirror, go figure.

The fact that an engine has pushrods does not make it faster off the line. Likewise, overhead cams do not make a car slower off the line.

WOW. Thats pretty surprising. I would have thought it would have taken you longer than that to pass the MC. Good stuff.

I thought it was fairly common knowledge that pushrod engines have more low end torque, hence making them quicker on the jump.

One of the car magazines did a report on why GM hasn't gone to strictly OHC engines, contrary to the hype they are not the "ULTIMATE" in technology with no flaws. One of the reasons was packaging, OHC engines have a higher profile.
Without variable exhaust OHC's generally breathe better at high rpms, causing more HP up high.
Is there anyone who hasn't felt the Aurora come up on the cam, its DRAMATIC.
Extremely good article, if anyone has the article please link to it.

I'm thinking about switching over to the new GTO, 6sp with the new 6.0 HO motor. Maybe the wife will enjoy the Aurora. Can't bear to sell it.
