antilock brakes

1995 blazer 4WD. when i hit my brakes on snow the antilock brakes come on just like they should, question is... when they do some on the noise is pretty loud. not to sound crude but it sounds just like a loud fart. my father also has antilock brakes on his car and is much more quiet than my car. problem? or are blazers just louder?

The ABS on the Blazer is louder than a lot of cars because of the placement of the valve assembly. It's mounted right on the left front inner fender. The newer systems are smaller and quieter. If it works, don't look for a problem, you'll spend a lot of money for a little noise. Hopefully you won't need the ABS that often.
