Problem with '89 ciera tape player

When ever i try to use a tape or tape adapter my speakers make a snapping or clicking noise. The radio works fine but when a tape is inserted i get those noises.... any solution?

Get a new one, Delco tape decks rarely work after 10 years of use. Buy a new cd player for 99 bucks, dont give yourself the headache
