I am a new owner of a 2001 Toyota 4-Runner Limited. I love this vehicle, particualrly since my last vehicle was a Dodge.....but we will not get into that :shakehead

There are a few things I need for my vehicle that I was hoping to get some guidance from you:

1. Owner's Manual - Where can I get one? Anything online?

2. Car Jack: I am missing the jack. should I get a stock one from the dealer, or are there other suggestions?

3. Anti-Theft system Owner's manual: I have the Toyota keyless entry anti-theft system....but I don't know which one. It does seem to be tempermental however...when I hit the button to unlock the door, it only unlocks the driver's side....BUT, sometimes I manage to get it to open ALL the doors? Also, if I hold the rmote down for the rear window...it will open, but when I do this again, I hear the confirmatory 'beep', but the window doesn't close? I simply need to know how the remote is 'supposed' to work, then I can determine if I have a problem.

4. What is ECT? Seem to be some sort of traction control. Should I have it on in any bad weather condition?

5. When driving on dry roads in 2WD, what postion shoudl the shift be in 4H - 4LOW - Neutral. This is my first 4WD vehicle. Also, if I place the vehicle in 4WD (by pressing the button), but the shift is in the 'neutral' position, are all the wheels engaged? I seem to be able to drive fine, and the confirmatory light on the dash says 4WD is engaged.

I appreciate your feedback.

Thanks

1:Owners Manual:Toyota or Ebay(ie... online)
2:Car Jack:Usually under backseat, and on some like my own 92...You have to lift a section of carpet up to reveal a steel cover and jack in compartment under back drivers side seat.
3:Anti-Theft Questions:Contact Toyota service dept.
4:What is ECT:ECT is for when you need to shift at higher RPM's such as when towing...many with V6 engines claim this also gives them added MPG's when used...mine just is more fun to drive in ECT.
5:You should never EVER drive on dry pavement in 4WD....4H 4WD can be used on slick pavement and 4L 4WD for offroad only...you have a push button 4WD and when light is on dash you are in 4WD...if you want to see how this works and verify all 4 wheels are being driven..just jack up and place jack stands under vehicle with all 4 wheels off ground and futher your knowledge safely by trying different things REMEMBER to STOP wheels from turning before shifting in and out of 4WD(press brakes)

2. Yes, buy a stock one.

3. Hit unlock once for just driver's door. Hit it twice to unlock all doors. The rear window can only be rolled down with the remote. Your remote works fine. If you had the manual, it talks about it.

5. Your 4wd system can be driven in 4wd at all times, even on dry pavement. Why bother with all the wear and tear when not necessary, though. Forrest Grump's '92 can't. If transfer case in neutral, wheels are not engaged.
