Do I need to have intercooler piping to install my bov or can i use the flange and plug it into the stock pipe and get something to to seal it shut?

You'll need a adapter if you want to use your stock intercooler pipe. They sell it at dejontool.com for $28.

That sob i went down to the performance shop they said that i would have to buy the intercooler piping for it to fit will i need to use the gasket if i got the piping. Do you know if the type s will fit the hahn pipes? I would buy the hole thing but you know that is a little more money than im planning to spend plus I'm planning to get a jdm motor with trany and all here pretty soon hopefully than i will worry about stuff like intercooler pipes

I agree with Jake, the stock pipe is just too restrictive. Its a great improvement, after I got mine I could feel the car spool a lot quicker.

Yes you will need to use the gasket to seal the bov to the pipe. And the bov will fit on the hahn pipes. And if your short on money or dont want to spend much, just get a dejontool pipe.

Why are you getting a JDM motor? Whats wrong with the motor you have now? If nothing is wrong with it, dont touch it! Thats how people usually fuck things up. And dont go with JDM if you are replacing your motor!

nothing is wrong with it at the moment but i don't want something to go wrong with and then have to replace itl. What is wrong with the jdm motors? it is basicly the same as a 6-bolt

I agree with Jake, dont get a jdm motor cause you'll never know if they beat the sh*t outa it or not. Best bet is to just buy a Engine rebuild kit and have a mechanic do the rest of your work. This way u will know that your engine will last longer. By the way if u do, do the engine rebuild replace the turbo, water pump, etc.

yeah it thats true. I know that i will have to do a 6-bolt conversion at some point in time i don't think that the this motor will handle it.

If you want to save some money...just drill 2 new holes into your stock BOV flange where it lines up correctly and add some RTV high-temp sealer and bolt it on. No need to buy a new UICPipe, I did it with mine and sounds/works great...no leaks at all.

forcedinduction: have you done a boost leak test? it might be better then the stock one but it probably leaks

Thats a very half ass ghetto way and looks like shit. Plus the stock bov flange is plastic! If you are modding your car at all why not just upgrade? If I had an RTV attached BOV I dont think I would ever open my hood for anyone.

no i think I'll just wait untill i can get the piping i want so i don't have to install it more than i need to. There and 2 vac lines on that bov and i only have one on the stock so where is the smaller one going to go?

You dont need to hook that up but if you want you can hook it up to the turbo outlet or an IC pipe and what it does is it helps the BOV respond and release faster...
Most people use them if you cant get the BOV soft enough, like you have the screw all the way out but yet the spring is still to stiff!

wouldn't that make the car jerk more if it release to quick? When i removed the dump tube from the stock bov and drove it was pretty harsh. I put a 3 liter bottle cap on the end and clamped it down with 2 holes and i made it much easier to switch gears. but now it sounds like the ssq from hks

You put a bottle cap on the outlet of the BOV?
Put your dump tube back on! There is a reason its there in the first place, the reason your car is running shitty is because you are venting!

I'll try it but it jerks really hard when i have it on almost like when you hit fuel cut, but that is only when i switch gears. Well i just went out and tested it out i made my car slower, it only pushes 14 psi instead of 16. I don't think that I need it on there.

actually i haven't done a boost leak test but it dont seem to leak for me...and my 1g flange is actually metal so i didn't have any problems drilling holes in them....i forgot, you gotta 97 they dont come in metal. My bad dawg...

I think that i will be getting the piping soon so Ill be alright. Do you know why my boost level droped when i put the dupe tube on i went from 16 psi to 14

Hey guys,
Didn't want to start a new thread, so thought I'd post here. After reading that I would need a flange and adapter kit to make the greddy type S bov fit on my stock UICP and from the advice of Jake and others in this forum about replacing the UICP, I've decided to buy the greddy type S bov and new UICP. I found an intercooler piping kit on ebay which is flanged for the greddy type s (link here (http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&rd=1&item=7960504215&category=33742&sspagename=WDVW) )
I have the stock SMIC in my car. Do you guys think that ebay pipe kit will work or should I go with dejontool or something else? The ebay one seems to be the best value and it doesn't seem like there's much of difference in these pipes compared to the other brand name ones except the price. I e-mailed the seller and he says "the 90degree pipe is about 3", the rest two is about 2.3".
Replacing the intercooler pipes doesn't look too difficult. How long did it take you guys to replace them?

That ebay pipe doesn't seem like that much of a bargain. There is a guy named Brode that makes them, which I have in one of my cars. In the other, I'm using an RRE upper pipe.. and of course, dejon tool is another great company. The brode piece is only, what, $80?

Contacted Dave Brode yesterday and he said he doesn't make the entire UICP (no "S" pipe). He charges $76 shipped for the lower portion of the UICP and I think $8 for a flange to adapt to the greddy type S. The ebay one is for the entire UICP. I'm checking the dejontool and rre pipes to see what the price difference is. Been hearing a few bad experiences from other with the ebay pipes. Is anyone here using them?
