Hi i'm posting to get an opinion from you guys. I'm thinking about buying this kit http://store.mrtechus.com/hpirtgaspore.html. I figure it's a great deal because it comes with a remote too. Do you guys think that I would go with that or do you know of something better? for that price range. Thanks

First off, wait more than a day or two before bumping.

Now about the RC. Is this your first real RC? If I have said it once, I have said it a thousand times, and I will say it again; start off with an electric. Nitro's are very fickle and work sometimes, and wont work other times. Its hard to diagnose the problem if you have never had an RC before. Plus, they need to be properly maintained. Electrics are just as good and if not better. Nitro's are just an expensive noisey pain in the ass.

For more info on why you should start with an electric feel free to use the search.

So the electric goes as fast as the nitros? but what a pain in the ass to have to c9harge. even if you have two batteries run one charge one switch out, and what kind of maitainence (spelling) would I be looking at with a nitro

If you think changing a battery is a pain in the ass, then dont get an RC, much less a nitro.

The maintainence you're looking at is disassembly and clean up everytime you are done running. Major clutch adjustments. Differential problems, so on and so forth. I could make a list of all the maintainence but I dont think AF allows posts that long.

No. The electric will be about $100+ less. Say you want a touring car.

The Nitro will set you back $300-$350.
The Electric will set you back $100-$200.

Do the math.

i have two nitro cars... i agree it took a bit of time and patience with my first one... but now i love them and would never want anything less.. plus i think hearing the nitro switch gears is awsome... im hust waiting on parts now cuz i blew my tranny in an accident.. :(

will the electric engines have more or less torque that the nitros? or would the brushless be just fine

not sure about actual specs... but i believe the nitros have a higher top speed... but i dont think it was by much.

Torque depends on the motor. Nitro Engines vs. electric motors is almost the same. You could go brushless if you want, but I think they are a waste of money. Wait about a year and the price will drop.

Don't forget to add a the cost of a decent charger and a couple of decent packs to the the cost of an electric car. That's at least another $100. Using a 3 hour wall charger and a couple 1500 packs can be as frustrating as only getting to run one tank of nitro. IMO, if you're looking for good performance your going to have to do maintenance, regardless if it's electric or nitro. Another thing to consider is where you're going to run your car. I think my neighbors would get pretty upset if I tested and tuned my nitro on my driveway all the time. But, I can run my electric all day and night and they wouldn't even know. Good luck with you decision.
