I have owned a 99 buick regal GS for almost six years and have had very few problems with it, until now. We recently had about six inches of snow. For the first two days after the snow I drove it both days with no problems. I filled the car with gas on the second evening and drove home. I didn't drive the car at all on the third day. On the morning of day four, I started the car as usual and it ran for about one minute before shutting off. Their was no stutter or misfire, it simply died out.
Each time that I start the car, it will run for a couple of seconds and then just die out. Any suggestions?

This could be the security system (passkey). I've heard of others with similiar issues. It usually means either the key is no good (there is a RFID chip in the key) or the ignition lock cylinder is bad. Do a search here, or in the Pontiac Montana forum (probably in any GM vehicle forum with passkey III theft deterrant systems, which are like 99 and up).

It is the ignition resistor. It reads the chip in the key..a security feature. Mine went out at 48K miles. Nearly $200 to get it repaired not including having the car towed to the dealer. I think they had to open up the steering column.
Resistor kit 88951182 $108 . This was 12-23-02 Merry Christmas.

Engine shut down after start up was caused by a faulty fuel pump relay resistor located inside of the right fender well. This problem is native to the supercharged engine. The resistor costs $44.00 but the labor was $165.00. I hope that this may help someone in the future. I also appreciate the quick replies.
