plasti-cote chrome

i've recently spotted a chrome paint in a can from plasti-cote.
anyone know if it's any good?
i don't have an airbrush so at the moment, i have no access to alcad or similar.

It wont give you the real chrome look you get with the plating that is already done on your kit.... if thats what you are looking for.

to be honest, i was just wondering on how good it is.....

y'know, when sometimes they have daft connecting points on the sprue that leaves a great big unchromed patch somewhere it is highly visable,
i.e the exhaust tips on the revell ferrari daytona kit.

would be nice if there was something that could be used to just 'touch-up' the little patches.

how does it compare to the regular silver/metallic paints
e.g tamiya's silver (pot)?

i guess i could just practice cutting aluminium tubes....

why not use some Bare Metal Foil. That might work, but i'm not sure. I don't think there is a single paint available which will replicate actual chrome. I have tried a few myself, most recently Testors "chrome". That one actually looks more like polished alliminium, which is probably what the one you are talking about will be like.
Anyway hope this helps.

:thumbsdow Thats all there is to say about it, It's basically a silver paint that messes up when you try to clear it.

Get some Chrome finger nail polish. I've had success touching up sprue marks on chrome parts with it. Marc

yep. When you clear coat it, it might as well be silver. Plus, it takes a long ass time to dry.
