So yea, I believe i own the worst honda prelude ever made.

Spec : 97 honda prelude, 5sp, SH

They might as well as call this one Honda Lemon.

Point being ive had numerous problems that we wont even tredge into today. The one on hand is:

Problem :
Front right bounces like theres a fierce animal in the engine bay anywhere past 3k rpms.

Answers :

First im told that i need a whole new front end suspension by some place and its going to be $1,800 dollars. HA! NO.
Then the A-holes at meineke knew the trick, it was the tie rod and lower ball joint.... NOPE.. They send me off i come back.. Sir its not FIXED!. they then tell me its the "electrical differental" and to take it back to the shop that did my transmission 5 months before.

So now i bring it to the shop that did my transmission, they said there was nothing wrong with it...

Nothing wrong with it? It feels like a jackhammer past 3k rpms. Oh and the kicker is, I tell them its even worse when i drive into Vtec anywhere past 5k... they informed me i shouldnt be driving it that high...... yea. exactly.

So what the FUCK is wrong wiht my car!?

Does it only bounce when it's in gear or does it bounce while it's in neutral (not moving?). Possibly motor mounts or tranny mount? Just a guess since the description of the problem is kind of vague.

First thing I thought of was the motors mounts too. Open your hood and rev the engine up at the throttle body. Watch what your engine does. Should be fairly easy to tell if its the mounts.

Yes, it only bounces IN gear.

as for the motor moving, yep that was the first thing i checked, she stays perfectly still.

What could it be??

Maybe your tranny? Considering the right side is the tranny side and you said that's the side that bounces.

Well i took it to the tranny place and the monkeys there informed me first of all there was nothing wrong with it. i was like DID YOU DRIVE IT!? jeez. So then they are like you shouldnt be going past 3k rpms anyways... i informed them that i need to go to atleas 5k to enable variable timing, they then informed me that i shouldnt drive a car that high.. lol.. STILL not fixed im thinking about taking a 7k dollar loss on this thing and tossing it for parts.. NO ONE can fix it.

Any help?

its gotta be mounts or suspension. call around to diffrent shops an see what they say. take it in to them an see what they can do. thats all i can think of, best of luck.

I'd guess motor mounts.

Its just ridiculous, but im narrowing it down i mean if it only happens in gear, its got to be drivetrain right? Yet again technically when you throw it in neutral the engine goes all the way down to ~500 rpms. So could it be a motor mount? Meineke said it wasnt.

jeez this is a pain.

My civic was doing the same thing and i couldnt figure out what it was. At first i thought it was one of the motor mounts but they all looked fine and the engine didnt move at all, but once i passed about 3-3500 rpm the whole front end of the car would shake out of control. It would only do that in gear though, when i was in neutral it would be smooth. I then replaced a couple of mounts and now it is almost like new. I rev up past 7500 with no harsh vibrations like i was getting at 3k and up. make sure you look at all the mounts, mine looked fine on the car but once i took them off and actually looked at them off the car they were demolished. hope you get it fixed
