you have to take off the door panels. There are 4 screws on the door panel. There is one behind the door handle one in the armrest handle and 2 around the edges covered by caps. There is one on the top left and one on the bottom left of the drivers side door panel. Then pop the bottom out, just pry with a screw driver and then just slide it up out of the window frame. After that it is just a few screws for the speakers.

FYI you'll probably want to go behind those two cloth things on the dash and disconect the tweeters. If you don't you will throw off your imaging because you will have multiple tweeters.

aright thanks alot. also, you think that after im done i could just take off the cloth speaker covers because the new RF speakers i got look badass. and for starters ill just try playin it with the tweeters and see how it sounds.

It doesn't look very good if you take off the cloth speaker covers because behind that is plastic and even if you get that off it doesn't look too nice because of the odd shape. Also if you take that off you are putting your nice new speakers in harms way. If you want to show them off I would suggest kick panel's. I plan on make some fiberglass kick panel's that mount to the door when I get enough time.

Also a little off subject but how do you like the short shifter you have, and which one do you have, I have been thinking about getting one, but haven't decided yet.

i have a B&M short shifter, i bought it for 80$ at 2kracing.com. its really nice, a little weird at first but shifts are alot cleaner now. it actually helps alot toowhen it comes to racing, i was able to chirp my tires real hard after i bought it.

hey i gotta another problem. the wiring for the speakrs i bought were labeled positive/negative so i figured id just match up striped with striped but the wiring end that comes from the car has both wires striped so i tried it both ways and it worked both ways. so i jus picked one and put the speaerks in. after that i just turned the cd player and listened for about 5 mins. after a few mins the speakers like short-circuited and went out. even my back ones that i didnt swap out yet. now theres no sound at all in my car..could it be because of wrong terminal wiring??? also, i noticed when i rubbed the back of the speaker against metal, they'd also go out for a few secs.. any ideas????

Um I hate to say it but I think you blew your internal amp. When you wired the speakers was there and frayed wire the could have crossed. Because if you cross the wires anywhere it might do that. Hopefully that's what happened and you can just uncross the two wires. If you didn't hook it up positive to positive and neg to neg it wouldn't do this. It would actually sound usually, just out of phase. Like if you had the left speaker reversed and the right normal the left would play the sound a 10th of a second(not exactly just as an example) later than the right speaker plays it.

Check if any wires are crossed and hope for the best. I'm assuming your headunit is still on?

the headunits fine and actually, whenever i first turn on the headunit the sound will come on but only for a second or two then it goes out. but im jsut going to take apart my door panel again and play around with it and see what happens. what do u mean crossed wires?? and what does it mean if i blew my internal amp?? does it mean i have to buy another amp because if so, thats not a problem b/c i was planning on buying one very soon anyways.

By crossed wires, I mean. if at any point the positive wire(not the rubber coating but wire) touchs the negative something like what is happening to you. My guess is the frayed wires touch eachother and that's what's causing this. Don't turn your headunit on until this is fixed though because it will screw up your speakers.

By internal amp, I mean the amp inside the headunit. If you do buy an external amp your problem will be solved but you have to buy a 4 channel because you will have to run the rear speakers on it too. Or you can just not run rear speakers, I do that because I have components and it throws off the imaging.

Just check all the wires inside the door panel.

yeah i guess ill have to. i mean i did do it ghetto-style(wires connected with elec. tape) so maybe..anyways ill try and see what happens.
