Af member in serious accident

I know thare are many people on this forum who find him abrasive and callous, but he is a great friend of mine, so I thought I would pass along this news.
My friend Jeff Hatter, known here on AF as gladhatter was in a serious automotive accident on the 24th of December. A delivery truck made an illegal U-turn directly in front of him and he hit it dead on at about 40 mph. His Nissan Silvia is totalled and he is currently in the hospital ICU, but is expected to make a complete recovery. They had to use the Jaws of Life to extract him from the vehicle, and he suffered a collapsed lung.
Please, everone, be careful out there. If you have the time, say a quick prayer for him and his family, as he just flew them all to Japan to visit for the holidays. Regardless of your political inclinations or personal beliefs, this is a good man and I wish him a speedy and complete recovery.

Oh man.. that is damned scary, about a month ago almost that same exact situation happened to me. A U-Haul truck was making an illegal U-Turn (because it's next to impossible to see oncoming traffic) and I was going around 55 MPH in a 50, and we came damned close to colliding. If he had turned a half a second later, and I hadn't have applied full brake pressure, I almost certainly would be in the same state or worse than Mr. Hatter.
My heart goes out to him, his family, and to his full recovery

Welcome Back!! Glad to see that your alright. Focus on getting your strength back, you'll need it, so when you go after that truck company, or the driver, you will be up for the long fight, to get a brand new car, medical bills all paid, and maybe a new house! :)

Back On Topic,
it was mentioned that you have a collapse lung. I guess that hurts. Is that repairable?

from experience...it hurts for a while but it's quite repairable...It's happened to me twice now I think...hurts like a bitch but they reinflate it and get you back to normal and your set...after a bit of rehab that is.
Glad to see you're back and get better soon! I know what it's like to be laid up for a while but it gets better in the end!

What happened to the drivers door? Jaws of life?
Looks a lot like my workmate's car after a head on smash, but he didn't even have any cuts or bruises from it...

Well, considering he posted the pictures, I'd say he's recovering nicely .A little too nicely, tell Acme Hitmen that I expected more for my money.

What happened to the drivers door? Jaws of life?...
Yeah...after about 45 minutes they got there with the JoL and finally got me out.
That is all custom JDM work to the front though....all aftermarket mods.
I have been in a few fender-benders over the years but never ANYTHING like this.
No more for me, thanks. I have a new found respect for serious defensive driving.
