ws6 vs 05 stang

Well just to start this story off, I was in neither car, I was coming home from Christmas, driving my mom's POS subaru impreza hatchback, with her and my brother riding along. So as I'm cruising along, every second seems like hell, every car that passes me, makes me wish more and more that I had driven to my relatives seperately in my vr4...but so is life.
So my mom's subaru is putting along, taking a good minute or 2 to simply accelerate from 65-90. And then everytime I reach an ideal cruising speed of 90, I get cutoff up ahead and have to slow down and start all over again. So this has gotten quite repetative and I'm getting annoyed, so the road finally opens up, and I take it up to 95. As I'm slowing down again for another idiot minivan who decides to switch lanes up ahead, one of the new mustangs flies in behind me.
Now I really had no desire to switch lanes and let him pass, as I would have gotten stuck behind this stupid van ahead, while everyone else caught up and passed me. So I stay in the left and floor it for all she's got...well in about 3 seconds the mustang gets bored of waiting and takes off weaving and leaving me behind...I simply didn't have the power to pass anybody on the right, so weaving was just not an option.
So traffic clears again a bit up, and I floor it, trying to catch up to the stang (haha, yeah right). Well as I'm going about 85, a black ws6 flies by me like I'm standing still. The girl driving was blonde, but she was going so fast that is about all I could tell. So she catches up to the stang as he is slowed yet again by traffic. Well I give the Sub all she's got and manage to catch up behind the ws6 as we all get trapped in by traffic. So for miles this stang and ws6 are just playing cat and mouse with me failing miserably at keeping up. (I was almost in tears, I missed my car so much). We finally it clears for the last time, and they gun it...now I don't know what the ws6 had in it, but it was definantly not stock because it would have put my vr4 to shame..this girl just took off like she was shot out of a cannon. They took it up to what I'm guessing was like 60mph up to 130-150 (way faster than I was going)...and that ws6 had the stang by bus lengths. So it was the highlight of my otherwise dreary 3 hours of mundane holiday driving.

Another great story about the TA. Man I want one again. Too bad you didn't have th VR4. That would have been cool if you would of had the chance to run with them. Well, great story. late...

Hmm it sounds like one of the girls from LS1.com. There's a member on there that can drive the piss out of her car (She runs a 1.7 sec. 60', which is sick). I dunno, maybe it is her. Anyways the new Mustangs seem to be having some power issues. They've dynoed some of them to 240 rwhp, and others to 270 rwhp. That's a huge gap, let alone the times they are pulling at the track. I believe it has something to do with their throttle control system.

I've always wanted to do that...be in an Enzo or 575, and have two cars shoot by me doing a buck plus, and then have me effortlessly slide past them with that 'oh, we're racing? I didn't know that' look

well...Wow...if it pulled like you say thats one cool transam...I never liked the mustang after the 5.0 was gone, but i didn't think it would get spanked by a trans am like that...

There is seriously something wrong with those new gt mustangs. I took one by half a car in my mustang...plus he was obviously an automatic. I hope he was just 'babying' it because it's new..but it sure didn't sound like it. and yes...the LS1 is a beast.

Some folks know how to drive and some do not. I test-drove a Mustang GT the other day and there is no doubt in my mind it is a consistent mid 13-second car driven well. Very strong out of the hole and very good power all they way up to 100mph.
However, people seem to be having a hard time getting used to the new GT for a few reasons. First, the car has very short gearing in the first couple of ratios and is easy to bounce off of the rev limiter if you do not know what you are doing. (I did it the first time I really got in it..some folks apparently do it over and over) And, it feels so torquey that a lot of people don't give it enough revs before dropping the clutch and bog the car down a bit.
I have seen several 05 Mustang GT's dynoed and they have all dynoed in the 270rwhp range. And, a couple of guys have already gotten their 05's to run 13.3x's at around 105mph with the cars not broken in. Keep in mind that 04 Mach-1's typically pick up a few tenths after breaking in. If the new GT does the same we could be looking at 13 flats on a perfect run.
People just need time to learn to drive the cars and other folks need to remeber that some Mustang owners will just never learn to drive their cars well....as with every car

If he really wanted to go fast stock and bought a V-6 he bought the wrong car. However, the base pony is about as fast or faster than anything else in it's price range except for the SRT4 Dodge.

do you guys really think a 05 mustang gt could get as low as a 13 flat stock??????? if im correct they come with 300hp and a little more torque don't know all the specs for sure. that sounds too low for me. how much does it weigh??

It was an automatic that I encountered so 'he doesn't know how to drive' is out the window unless of course it was a 12 year old kid who stole his dads car..and I seriously doubt the 05 GTs running 13 flats stock. That's LS1 territory. And theres no way a mustang is going to beat an LS1...especially not stock.

A Cobra is a Mustang, right?? Because those run 12's stock.
The new 2005 Mustang GT's are said to run roughly mid 13's. With some dipping in the lower 13's.
Either way, I am not scared of them. :naughty:

A few quick tidbits for you. The new 05 GT makes almost exactly the same hp and a few lb-ft more peak tq with a much flatter torque-curve than the 04 mach-1 did. (This is real-world hp from dyno runs, rating skew these numbers a bit) Gearing, both in the manual-tranny and rear end is identical, with the only difference being a little better shift mechanism in the 05 GT. 9The auto GT does have a 5-speed whereas the Mach-1 only had 4-gears) The 05 GT weighs roughly 50lbs more than an 04 Mach-1.
The cars require two very different driving styles due to the mach-1's lack of torque relative to the GT. However, power and weight are very similar, with the GT having a slight power advantage and a very slight weight disadvantage.
Mach-1's have run as fast as a 13.2 second e.t.'s in the hands of new-car magazines (it took them over a year to figure out how to drive it) and private owners have seen just north of 13 flat bone stock. The 05 GT has, thus far, run a best time of 13.5 in a new car rag and a best yet 13.35 in the hands of a private owner. Keep in mind that these cars have yet to be broken in, and people are still learning how to drive them as well.
Also keep in mind that when the Mach-1's were "as new" as the 05 GT is to us now they were typically running much slower than that 13.2, and slower than GT's are right now. It took about a year for people to figure out how to drive the rev happy Mach, but they eventually ran within a whisker of 13 flat when broken in and driven well. It takes a while to figure out how a car wants to be driven, and breaking it in helps a bit too.

There is not a chance for a 2005 Mustang GT to win a race against any LS-1 WS6 in good running condition. Is't just not enough car. Ford and GM are all F%#$d up. New cars suck!!
GTO= Great power / to heavy and not enough looks!
05' GT= All looks / to heavy and not enough power!
