2000 tacoma startup question

Hey all

I have a 2000 tacoma with 60,000 miles. It is a manual transmission so the clutch needs to be pushed in all the way to start it. Occasionally I have unintentionaly let the clutch out while the engine is still cranking but hasnt fired up yet. When I try to start it after doing this, the engine just cranks and cranks but wont start. It can sometimes take 5-10 trys to get it going. When it does start I get billows of rich exhaust. It is as if the engine was flooded. After starting, it runs and restarts normally. Is this a normal occurence for tacomas? Can a fuel injected engine flood? Anyone else experience this?

thanks
matt

Not as bad as what You have had but I noticed it taking a few more cranks if I stop cranking before it starts even worse if it barely fires but doesn't start in both my tacoma and my hond accord, I was told by a mechanic it has to do with the computer having to do some type of reset, in a nut shell the newer computer controled cars don't like that so don't do it. That is exactly how it was explained to me if that makes any sence to you?
