Starting problems, no fault codes!

Hi all I am a newbie here so please bear with me:)
I am having the same problem that a lot of people seem to have, my JGC wont start:frown: It all started a few days ago when my uncle said he had noticed that there were some sparks coming from under the engine when starting (what that doesn't sound normal) I tried to source the prob with my bro but couldn't find anything. Now a few days on the car took a lot longer to start up (usually within a couple of seconds, now about 15-20secs) so I thought I would try to start the car when it is warmed up, this time it struggled to start, idled very irratic and when I touched the gas just died, it did this a few times and now it won't start at all:banghead:
I have read quite a few posts saying that it could be the crankshaft position sensor, but I checked the car for fault codes and all it comes back with is code 55 (end of codes) None of the posts I have read say wether or not you will always get a code when this sensor fails, or this could be the problem but no fault code is created, any ideas??
Just a few extra points for you,
1)Since I have had the car (about 2 months) there is an intermitant problem with the drivers door lock, it won't always lock on the first push of the remote button,
2)A few days before the starting problem I tried to open the car with the remote and it wouldn't (thought it was a flat battery in the fob) so opened up with the key, alarm went off and couldn't shut it off with the fob. The fob works fine now, the battery doesn't seem to be flat!
Would these problems contribute to a no start situation??
The car is under warranty but the garage will not pay for diagnosis or replacement sensors, I think electricals is quite a grey area when it comes to warranties. As the car won't even start now I can't get it to them to get it checked out, I havn't got any breakdown cover because I thought I was buying a sound motor:shakehead
Sorry if I have bored you with all this info, im just hoping someone out there can point me in the right direction.
Cheers in advance for any replies
Tim

mine wouldnt start while on a long trip, towed to a dealer , found the security alarm was tripped and cut off the gas as an anti theft protection , dealer reset the alarm, told me to keep the keyless entry as a reset for it .. they also cleaned and lubricated the security sensors , has worked fine since , but if your having probs with the door lock , that can be triping the security sensor .... I had no warning light or fault codes to give me any idea of what was going on ,....on the road i changed the coil, as i carry a spare , and that didnt have any effect to the problem , I suspect a possible attempted break in , and the alarm timed out and shut off

Well here is an update for you,
I checked the car over and found that there was no fuel coming out of the valve on the fuel rail suggesting a fuel pump problem. I also checked for the pump running while someone was cranking the car over and couldn't hear anything. Now I have read that fuel pumps can be a problem on jeeps, something to do with the fuel tank breaking down and the pump getting clogged. I tried testing the pump after taking it out of the fuel tank and couldn't get it to run, but im not sure if my test was that comprehensive. I swapped a few relays around checked all fuses and plugged the fuel pump back in and still nothing, so it must be the fuel pump right??
I have been opening and closing the car using my spare key fob so I would presume that this would disable the alarm as it should, but I could be wrong do you think the alarm needs to be reset?? or does the key fob reset the alarm?
I still have no fault codes showing, is there not a fault code for a faulty alarm system or fuel pump? Im trying to get the car fixed under warranty but I want to be sure they know what the real problem is so I don't get charged for work that doesn't need doing!
Cheers for any replies

The is no code for fuel pump, if it's under warranty have them put a fuel pressure gauge on it. Fuel pressure should be around 39 lbs. no less. if you can't hear the fuel pump relay click when you turn key and you changed the relays around then the pump is bad. hope this helps dale [email protected]

See post "94 gc i6 fuel pump no power "
I agree with Dale he is usually right on. I had a fuel pump problem with my wifes 94 gc just recently. Fuel pump is expensive and not fun to replace. $300 dollars for the pump/regulator located inside the fuel tank which was full. Wasn't able to drain in place, had to lower with a pair of floor jacks. Also gas tank bash plate, which is an optional feature, doesn't unbolt very easily. Attachment bolts are buried inside tubular frame

Well I have finally got my car back:grinyes: it turned out that the fuel pump had died. The guy had to wait a few days for it to arrive put it in and it fired up straight away. Cost the warranty company an arm and a leg though £485 for the pump and when the labour was added the total bill came to £706:lol2: The warranty only cost me £200 so I think it has paid for itself already.
The only trouble is that when I got the car back the stereo was asking for a code which I don't have:mad: I am going to post saparately asking how I can get hold of the code.
The way I found the pump problem was by doing the test someone suggested in this thread, checking fuel in the fuel rail listening to the pump Etc.
Just be warned make sure you have your radio code b4 you take the battery off.
I hope my post will help others with the same problem
