Does anyone know how to disable the auto lock feature on a 99 Jetta IV? It locks the doors at 10 MPH, just kindof a pain in the ass...

I believe this is a configuration in one of your control units-take it to a dealer they will recode it via a vag-com or a vas machine.

Just wondering why that is a pain in the ass... unless you jump out of the car while its moving alot, even then you can still open the doors. I dont know, I kinda like the feature myself, but we all have different opinions, but yeah the only way I know is through vag-com.

It's annoying because when you stop(which is the only time one shold open a door, right kids?) and try to open the back door to get something out you need to remember to unlock all the doors again. Ya know? or when you run inside after forgetting something and want to toss it in the passenger side, you need to go back around and unlock the car... you get the point. I'm into cool and helpful features, but not ones that make me take extra steps to live my life

yeah, I guess I catch myself doing that too! I guess sooner or later it will become second nature, and you will automatically unlock them, but as for me I always forget! and Ive had the car a year!

Its a convienence feature! VW put it on there because they think that people that drive with there doors unlocked are dumb because they can actually open there door while driving... why would u open your door while driving... unless ur trying to hit mailboxes or something lol
