Just developed a problem with my 95 regal (3.8). The warning light for low oil level stays on after cranking the engine, I can turn off the motor then restart and the light will stay off until the next time the vehicle is turned off, sitting and then restarted. The oil level is up to par as well as clean filter. Could this be a possible monitoring sensor or ?

Could be a sensor problem. I just had the ABS and Security sensors replace in my 99 Regal.. Pricey parts and labor.

You would need to take the car to someone who can read the error codes that the computer has stored, which usually means the dealer. The local dealer charges about 1 hour labor for diagnostics. ($72) If the car throws a code, the bad sensor can be determined. Then you can pay the big bucks for replacement.

I am thinking it is a bad oil level sensor. It is mounted in the rear of the oil pan on your car. There is no troublecode that can be stored for the malfunction of the oil level sensor. So the dealership (or any other repair shop) wouldn't be able to plug-in and find the problem quickly.

For future reference, you don't have to take your car to the dealership to get the codes read. Any decent repair shop should have the diagnostic equipment required to view troublecodes and accurately diagnose the problem for your car.
