Oh yeah, and I'd like to start off by saying that I prefer blower whine...the sound of something that sounds like a wailing banshee will always make the hair on the back of my neck stand up, as opposed to something that sounds like a fast-leaking tire.

I love both of them especially Cobra's those things modded sound almost orgasmic...but when it all comes down to it a turbo sounds meaner faster stronger....

I agree about the cobra...I have a vid of a modded cobra pushing about 460 hp at the wheels...and the blower whine drowns out everything...engine noise, even the wind noise at 160 MPH!!!

Blower wine, watched some vids on moded gen 2's and cobras, sweet sweet sounding blowers.

I'll admit a BOV does sound quite intimidating.

I would also have to go with blower whine, when i was at the pomona auto show/swap meet i stood infront of a blown falcon and boy was that blower loud. The guy started it up and i was standing right infront of the twin carb scoop, and when the guy stuffed the throttle all you could hear was the massive whine. I like my little Turbo... awww it's soo cute.

i love high boost turbos blowing off, but nothing will ever beat the whine of a supercharger. like someone said, a modded cobra sounds orgasmic. something about that noise just makes the hair on the back of my next stand up and puts a stupid grin on my face.

I gotta go with turbo.....something about hearing a car go WOT and hearing that telltale suction backed by a large PSHHH of the bypass....whoever said a BOV is like a car having an orgasm was right on.

I dont like the sound of the turbo spool as much as the blow off. I think that is the only "intimidating" part to it. However, I love the sound of a modded s/c car screaming as it passes the car it races. So my vote goes for supercharger

I love the jet engine sound of a turbo spooling. Probably beats the BOV sound. Its......just......orgasmic.......

Personally...Turbos. Superchargers just dont do it for me, a whine, to me, makes it sound like something in the engine is broken, like a belt or something. Turbos are so sexy. Every time I think of turbos, I think of a turboed Sentra SE-R that flew by me once. Sounded like a damend F-14 on a low pass at mid throttle (grandparents live right on the naval base in Florida, every M/W/F at 8 am)...just all this power being held back, waiting to go full...and whenever I hear a turbod car WOT...nothin better.

And if ya'll think that a blower whine or a turbo sounds orgasmic...then I'd hate to sleep with the girls you sleep with.

i'd prefer the hard spooling spooling sound of two very very large turbos making over 1300 whp. it sounds like a freaking caged monster breaking loose esp with the wastegate venting the boost off to the atmosphere, then you here the blow off valve afterwards.

I'll agree with the people on this thread and say the 03 Cobra's s/c whine is music to my ears. I can't get enough of that sound and you actually hear it while punching the gas.
My friend has a turbo car and you can't hear it as well while really hitting the gas. I'll admit that I like the sound after you wrap it up and clutch it, letting the turbo whine down and sound like a police siren.

I dont know how many of you all have been near a F14 fighter jet then they take off but take that, quite it down and then add the sound of a toned exaust and small engine peppyness. then the fact that you can tease v8's with your "Rice" with your BOV or diverter valve and i like turbo's.

Twin turbos on a big motor. gurgle gurgle vrooooWHOOOOOOSH pshhh. Can't wait to hear that every day! Hehe the gurgle of a big ol motor scares ricers enough, they'll be crying when they hear the turbos spool... and see my front tires 3 feet off the ground! Muahahaa. +1 for the turbos.

Oh and yes, the blowoff valve sound is the least attractive part of the turbo sound... the spool up scream is the best, it accompanies the rush of power well...

i love the sound of the turbo as its spooling up oveer 15psi, sounds like a plane is taking off, esp. on a supra with huge single turbo conv.. o0o man i dont think no sound in the would can beat a huge turbo spoolings, my little turbo sounds decent also

blowers all the way, it jsut screams power, as long as your building RPMS your noise will increase. Bovs are cool and so is the turbo whine, but im in love with the sound of my blower. . .

Actually the question was based on sound, and personally I think a S/C sounds better just because, well as the other guy described it, it sounds like a banshee as your flying down the track. However, im pretty sure it is common knowledge that turbos are much more efficient in creating power.

Depends. Twin screw compressors, like that on the Koenigsegg CCR are more efficient ;)
