its looks real good man...go with the black rims and silver lip...because you need a little shine to it i think....at nite the silver lip will look sweet... i plan to smoke mine ...i dont know how dark i should go though..my car is black...my friend did his to his VW and he did his side markers to..they didnt pass inspection(nj)..he got new side markers and they passed him..so i think the tails are okay in jersey...anyways.looks real mean

either way if its just all black or with a lip, i just want these damn 14s off, lol. anybody here related to a cop, i wanna know if i can get away with just a warning if i get caught with those smokes on.

depends on how you act and what the laws are in your state. dont be a dick about it and you're much more likely to get a warning and not a ticket

If I were you I would have just picked up the covers for $55 at autozone. They velcro on and if you get pulled over be like... "Oh sorry officer, I didnt realize they were illegal, I can pull them off right now if you want me to." I've gotten away with so many tickets that way. Either that or since you spray tinted them, just say you bought the car that way and you didnt realize it was illegal.

well i never knew they had covers, i just knew about the smoke out paint, so i might look at that just incase. but i think i'll be alright considering i still have my stock lights sittin in my room. ok ok, here's my excuse when i get pulled over.... "Really? i'm so sorry, i had no idea they're illegel. the guy i bought them from must of lied to me, but i still have my original tallights back at home. i can put them back in as soon as i get there, and i'll go striaght home." ok maybe i wont sound THAT bitchy, but it'll be somewhere along those lines. if i do get caught, i'm leavin the black centerpeice in though.

its better if you get the covers for them, that way you can say you can take them off at that moment. imo

hey, do any of you guys know the name for some smoke out paint? i needa repaint these taillights because some nasty ass finger prints show up when my lights are on, plus they look a bit faded. i went to autozone and pep-boys today and unless i looked over them, i couldnt find any smoke paint. thanks

Just get the covers!!! Much easier to work with.

Also if your goin with the smoked rearend look... Smoke the reverse lights also!

If you dont want to get covers, get some paint thinner, clean the tint off that you messed up on (might as well just wipe off the whole tail light and start over) then just get a glossy black spray paint. Lightly coat it (coat it about 4 times very lightly or until you cant see anymore red) and it works wonders. Costs maybe $4 at the most and your tail lights are smoked! Plus it has the glossy look to match your paint and since its lightly coated your lights still shine through it.

yea i was gonna take all the paint off it then repaint, btw i bought them smoked so i didnt screw em up in the first place, lol. i saw the covers on pep-boys website, its like $80!! plus they have little logo things on the bottom corners, i dont know if i can take em off or not, so i'm not gonna risk it. i never thought about using just ordinary gloss paint, good lookin out man.
