Hello everyone i just registered today. I am having a problem with my truck. I hope this is the right forum to post in. I have a 1988 Chevy 1500. The problem i am having is recently it got really cold here around -20 at night. When i went to start my truck in the morning it started but when i give it gas the pedal stays down. I tried pulling it up and the pedal comes up but it is still getting full throttle. I think the throttle linkage is getting stuck for some reason. I don't know much about cars but I'm trying to learn i am going to school for auto tech. Anyway does anyone know what i could do it never did this until it got cold out. Its still got the factory engine just a little 4.3 liter. Thanks for the help.

Hey, going to college for automotive is awesome. I'm a Sr. at Alfred State in the Automotive and Motorsports programs. Your problem sounds like it could be the throttle body. start it up on a cold and pop under the hood and see if it sticks when you give it some throttle by hand instead of with the cable(disconnect the cable to make sure it doenst stick on you). It sounds like it's right in the throttle body though. I'd run to a junk yard or something and see if you can pick up a new body. I'd use your injectors and stuff if you know they work good. If you have time while you have it off id re-built it with the kits they have at NAPA. I did that with mine and it made my truck run a lot better. If your under the hood and the throttle returns ok give a pull on the throttle cable and see if its sticking you. If you do those 2 things it should show you where your problem is. Hope it helps you.
