Evo Motor

I own a 97 GST that has fallen victim to crank walk. I'm not worried about getting it fixed right now as I'm in Japan. But when I get back to the states I'll be replacing the motor. I've read all about replacing it with a 6 bolt motor but I was wondering if it would be possible to use a JDM motor from an EVO. Also I was wondering if any of the JDM motors had this problem. Don't want to waste money on one for the same thing to happen to it.

The JDM 6 bolts are the same. It has to be EVO3 or lower though, the 4s and up are on the other side of the engine bay. Its much easier just to use a USDM motor, they are exactly the same aside from things like injectors, etc. But I prefer to just swap in the 6 bolt block and head, using as little 1g stuff as possible, so things like injectors are not included in the "swap." But people do use the earlier evo motors, cylcone motrs, etc, with success. They often end up paying more though.

Thanks I think I'll just go with a usdm I was really just trying to lower the risk of getting another motor that will end up crank walking on me. But if a 6 bolt will work that is fine too.
