What do you guyz think is the best way to gain the most hp with about a $6OO BUDGET? for my 97 honda prelude (non sh)

You won't get much power at all with that. I don't like Nitrous but if you have no problem with it you could put a light shot on it, although that will probably go over your budget.

yeah the most hp per dollar is nitrous, but be very careful

I honestly don't like nitrous myself...I feel like its cheating for some reason....but what else do you guyz think will help most on take off?....thanx

the most horsepower you could get for 600 would be nitrous, or you can save up some more for other mods

What do mods do currently have on it?

I read a while back how nitrous express has a new line called Main Line and its supposed to be a no frills kind of kit and i think they run about $350. So that would be within budget and you could even fill the tank a few times! Besides that you wont be able to get too much more go out of your car. You could go with the old fashioned intake/header/exhaust to free up a little hp but not much.
I say spray the hell out of it and blow the engine and lets to a k20a swap! (youll have to take a loan out for that)

Why would you swap a k20a in when an h22 is a simple bolt in swap? A Jspec h22 SiR has 220hp and an lsd. I don't see why anyone would drop a K20 in a Lude.

43 more ft/lb of torque would be nice. It also would weigh a little less (i think). Also it would definately be unique. Also anytime someone asks what to do with their honda engine i tell them to swap a k20a into their car. Probably because id love to do it to mine but i dont have the moeny so im hoping someone will do it in my area and let me lend a helping hand.

43 more lb.-ft of torque over what a K20 does 142 lb.-ft. @ 6000 rpm. This guy has a 5th gen prelude. They have 156 lb.-ft @ 5250. We're not talking about a civic here. The 5th gen prelude has 200 hp already. Doing a K20 swap would be a waste of money and time.

a K20 may be more responsive to boost or other mods. anyway
you might want to start off with I/H/E. if you are planing to turbo it later the headers would be useless, but would help for temporary power. new cams would probably be the next step, or a vtec controler

the k20 is a sweet engine from what i have seen but it would cost you a load of cash.

yep, h22's R just as good as k20's if at that a step lower...

h22: 190-200 HP 156-158 Torque

k20: 200-210HP 142 Torque

Thanx for the feedback..I currently have an hks carbon fiber titanium tip exhaust, magnecore spark plugs, and an akimoto short ram, not much... I was thinkin of upgrading to a injen cold air.... One of my friends told me that by re-doing the piping to about 2 1/4 would help me....another question though, do you guyz think its wise to take off a catalytic converter?.... That's what some of my friends did to their si, and they said it helped them... But there car sounds like crap...

Another thing... I just recently found out that atts has something to do with my torque.. And I've notice that my car kinds of lag...so has this happenes to any1 else? My atts light is always on. What did you guyz do to fix this? Kind of clueless about cars and their performance, at first I just wanted to fix my car for looks... But I'm tired of all these mustangs and camaros that's around my area, there all over, and every single one of them think there hard, I want to be able to smoke all of them!!!!!!! Lol....well At least most of them...

Uh I think your friend was talking about exhaust diameter, not intake, when he said 2 1/4 inch pipe. Removing your catalytic converter will improve exhaust flow - but it will make your car louder - install a glasspack if you don't like the sound.

For ~$600 you could get a lightweight flywheel and clutch - that won't make more horses but it'll help put more to the ground..

Ok cool thanx.....so would you recomend that by increasing the ex. Pipe to 2 1/4, and removing the catalytic converter would increase performance?...what about an lsd tranny? I found one for about $290. Would that help a lot more, along with a light weight flywheel, and new clutch?...also, I found some aem light weight adjustable cam gears for about 125 for both( for h22 dohc)..... Would that help my performance?.. Any info would help me a out a lot....

going back to the k motor thing... there are different k-series motors not just a universal k20
k20a 220hp@8000 206tq@7000 JDM motor
k20a2 200hp@7000 142tq@6000 rsx-s motor
k20a3 160hp@6500 132tq@5000 base rsx civic si
There is also a k20z1 that is in the new rsx-s but im not sure about the specs past the 210hp. The motor i said to swap in was the k20a not the k20a2
so no it wouldnt be a waste of time
