i have a 96 gle, and it just wont go past about 4100 rpms in overdrive(about 120-122). does the se autos die here too, or do they keep going? i could get an se ecu if i had to , to fix this problem, or get an ecu upgrade.

my max doesn't have a speed limit i got a 96 max SE auto before i got S/C car pulled to 140 after S/C i got my car uptoo 170mph with my mechanic ecu to see speed after i pass 140 . 95-96 maxima shouldn't have a speed limiter car should pull too 140.

Do you have any mods? Take the car out of OD, drive as close to redline as you can get, about 6300rpms, the put the car in OD, the car should continue to accelerate... :D

The Maxima is aerodynamically limited to about 160mph tops, I think your mechanic ecu is reading wrong... :(

no its not a speed limiter im talkn about its a rev limiter

i have a place racing cia, nothing else. its like it just dies at 4100 rpms, a rev limiter i think, cause everywhere i see ecu upgrades about maximas they say this will knock the rev limiter out. 3rd gear just goes a little over 120 then it shifts out and nothing more. my friends se doesnt do that

GLE's and SE's dont have a speed limiter. You have to get 4th gear far enough into the RPM range that it makes enough power to pass 120. 4th gear in auto max's is really tall, so the engine has to work really hard to keep accelerating against wind drag at that speed.

it sounds like its gonna blow up with the cai on it at that high of rpms. so your saying redline it before OD

then again there was one night me and my girlfriend and two others were in my car and i got it two 125 ish range. wierd i guess

Don't redline it, but get it to just before redline, about 63-6400 rpms, then turn the overdrive on... :)

I also wouldn't be trying this with other people in the car, but maybe thats just me... :(

that was just once, i dont do it often. well i did what you said and it gets up pretty good now, got it to like 127 then had to let out cause of cars in the way.
